Analyzing Tarantino's Use Of Violence In Movies
So what purpose other than entertaining does violence have in films? Tarantino believes that violence in movies is pure comedy. Tarantino believes that it’s just highly entertaining. Violence is a way to showcase the “status” of people. Social situations, power, wealth, greed, emotion, anything you can think of. He uses violence as a stepping stone to explore these different emotions. Comparing his movies to real life crisis, Tarantino defended his work saying “we all intellectually ‘know’ the brutality and inhumanity of slavery, but after you do the research it’s no longer intellectual any more, no longer just historical record – you feel it in your bones. It makes you angry, and want to do something. I’m here to tell you, that however bad things get in the movie, a lot worse shit actually happened.” Tarantino doesn’t beat around the bush about the dark side of life.
