• Open the file MATH533 Sept 2013 Project Consumer.xls from the Course Project Data Set folder in Doc Sharing. • Students MUST download and use the data file currently posted inside DocSharing. This data set changes each session and IS NOT the same used in prior sessions. • For each of the five variables, process, organize, present and summarize the data. Analyze each variable by itself using graphical and numerical techniques of summarization. Use MINITAB as much as possible, explaining what the printout tells you. You may wish to use some of the following graphs: stem-leaf diagram, frequency/relative frequency table, histogram, boxplot, dotplot, pie chart, bar graph. Caution: not all of these are appropriate for each of these variables, nor are they all necessary. More is not necessarily better. In addition be sure to find the appropriate measures of central tendency, and measures of dispersion for the above data. Where appropriate use the five number summary (the Min, Q1, Median, Q3, Max). Once again, use MINITAB as appropriate, and explain what the results mean. • Analyze the connections or relationships between the variables. There are ten pairings here (Location and Income, Location and Size, Location

Pelican Stores sent out a promotional coupon to boost sales and gain a new customer base, relying on the assumption that the promotional coupon will draw in those people. The key notes of the data to note that pertain to the productivity of the coupon is the Type Of Customer column. The data given is either “regular” or “promotional”. The “regular” customers are those who did NOT receive the promotional coupon, and are assumed to be already returning customers. The “promotional” customers are assumed to be new customers, because the only people who received the promotional coupon were “new customers” who had shopped at other National Clothing stores, but not at the Pelican brand stores. Another notable part of the data in this section is the Method of Payment bar graph. Note that the “Proprietary Card” payment method indicates purchases made by customers of other National Clothing stores (the Proprietary Card is a charge card only available through National Clothing).…

Through this paper, Team B will use the philosophy of descriptive statistics to describe the main feature of the collection of data quantitatively (Main PS 1995). Descriptive statistics will provide simple summaries about the samples and the measures. In essence, we will show a summary of the data that the team has collected. Some of the ways that we will show the data collected will be in the form of first central tendency which is the distribution locates the center of a distribution of values. The three types of the central tendency are the mean, the median and the mode. Secondly, we will look at the dispersion which is the spread of values around the central tendency (Dodge 2003). The standard deviation is a more accurate way of measuring the dispersion. Thirdly, the use of graphics and tables to illustrate the data collected in a visual background. Fourthly there is the frequency distribution. In the frequency distribution is a summary of the ranges of values. Frequency distribution can be shown by the team in graphic or tables that will be presented. Finally the use of the histogram will be depicted in the team analysis of the data that was collected.…

Consumer Research, Inc. is investigating whether there is any correlation between specific characteristics of credit card users and the amount these users charge on credit cards. Their objective is to determine if these characteristics can accurately predict the annual dollar amount charged by credit card users. Data was collected from a sample of 50 credit card consumers presenting information on the annual income (referred as Income), size of household (referred as Household), and the annual credit card charges (referred as Charges) for these consumers. A statistical analysis; including a descriptive, simple regression, and multiple regression tests, of this data was performed and the findings are presented below. Due to the uncertainty of the size of the intended population with respect to the size of the sample data, any inferences implied from this analysis are merely observations and should not be applied as absolute findings with regards to the entire credit card consumer population.…
