I’ve learned throughout the years that not every conversation needs a reply. Also, some are intimidated by your education and feel belittled during a conversation. I tend to make small talk and keep it simple.…

Though odessey ware suggested communtion as a coming of age story I belive that confermation would be a better example of one. Though first communtion can be very inportant in a Catholic childs life it is not the child’s choice. Confermation is when a person is old enough to decide on there own to believe in God. I am not confirmened but my parents made me go though the classes for it. You basiclly have a person to guide you usally being a family member or a close friend. You also have to choose a saint to represent you and must admit to the preist and heaven above you belive in god and deny the devil. I personally was not aable to do this since I did not belive so I chose not to do that passage through catholasism. Nor did I ever get a permit…

Developing good communication skills is very important to me because of the goals and dreams that I have for my personal and professional life. Am I that eloquent orator that I have been dreaming of or that powerful writer I am longing to become? I must say that I have improved tremendously but still think that I have a long way to go. I have received constructive criticisms about my communication skills during my communication class and other important presentations. Based on these critics I am aware of my weaknesses and strengths for both oral and written communication. I believe that the first in becoming an effective communicator is by acknowledging your areas of strength and weaknesses, and using various tools and strategies that would enhance your communication skills.…

Our first essay of Freshman Composition was to write a narrative about something that impacted our lives. I didn’t really know what to expect from this assignment. I knew I could write about my car wreck and give precise details about every little moment. When I started writing, I created a mind map to organize all the details. However, I was worried about my writing skills. I didn’t know what my instructor was expecting from me in this paper. I have never been a strong writer and that really concerned me when it came time to receive a grade. When I turned in the assignment I knew I had a strong detailed and easy to imagine story. However, I knew I was weak with my word choices and grammar. Grammar is the biggest thing that drags me down when I write papers for important classes even though I know my information. Because I knew that before going to write this paper, I looked for resources to help me. I found a website that points out your grammar and spelling mistakes for free. I know you can’t rely on the internet so I would read over it on different days to see if I found something new to correct. This helped in the end because I got a good grade on the paper and did well on grammar.…

Welcome to WritePoint, the automated review system that recognizes errors most commonly made by university students in academic essays. The system embeds comments into your paper and suggests possible changes in grammar and style. Please evaluate each comment carefully to ensure that the suggested change is appropriate for your paper, but remember that your instructor's preferences for style and format prevail. You will also need to review your own citations and references since WritePoint capability in this area is limited. NOTE: WritePoint comments are computer-generated writing and grammar suggestions inviting the consideration and analysis of the writer; they are not infallible statements of right/wrong, and they should not be used as grading elements. Also, at present, WritePoint cannot detect quotations or block-quotes, so comments in those areas should be ignored. I’ll be honest, English wasn’t and still isn’t one of my strong points in my education. During my high school years, my essays had suffered partly due to the fact that my grammar and organization of ideas weren’t consistent with the structure. That is, my ideas would abruptly change from topic to topic with no overall flow at all. Lacking experience in writing and reading, English was my most challenging subject. I despised writing. I felt that the subject was useless. The writing compartment in my brain was extremely restricted. I lacked flexibility in the use of words and phrases. I had the vocabulary of an elementary student. A typical sentence of mine would start with "I", "It", "Because", "The", "But", "Therefore". It is extremely difficult for me to receive the grade I wanted on my essays. My grades had suffered as a result, and I would always be looked down upon by my teachers. I remember one particular teacher with the name of Ms. Sidle. I have heard horror stories from former students of her class. The way she grades essays is the epitome of strictness. People have called her cold hearted, and the grades she hands out reflect just that. When junior year arrived, I was in for a nightmare, as I was scheduled into her class. I winged the class, but barely. I asked for help from all my resources (students and other teachers as well). Even though I had passed the class, I didn’t pay much attention to the subject, as I was occupied with just trying to pass the class. I do understand that her teaching methods are strict because they should help you when you enter the real world, but too strict is another thing of its own. Because of the lasting image she left us when we passed her class, my mindset was changed. I disliked high school. I thought of it as a huge waste of my time. All I was focused on was getting into college, and focusing more towards my major. Hey, as long as I am able to speak and write perfectly fine enough to get my point…
