Even tough he didn't hide me. Luckily I explained everything to him and he calmed down.

I thought to myself "These guys have anger issues, because every time something happens they get too aggressive".

After I told Juan the story he took me back to the house.

Just when we walked trough the door Paula jumped up and ran to me "Scarlet! You found her Juan"Paula said hugging me.

The beginning of a speech or presentation should capture the attention of the audience and reel them in. Most of the opening segments for talk shows or late-night television programs that I have ever watched have started out with a satire of a recent news event or with a joke that captured the audience’s attention through humor. Recent political news has been the subject of satire used to open Saturday Night Live or been the subject of a joke on The Tonight Show. While all American’s might not agree with the comments in the openings, it does capture the attention of an audience.…

Today it is very easy to get tethered to electronics and communications that give you instant results. A quick check on networking site is becoming the norm verses actually picking up the phone and calling the person you are catching up with. Sherry Turkle, in her essay “Can You Hear Me Now?,” discusses points and personal experiences that persuade the reader that today’s society is becoming “more connected- or more alienated”, than ever before. Turkle utilizes the pathos appeal by using the rhetorical appeals of anecdotes, assertion, and reasoning. She relies heavily on the use of pathos throughout the entire article. This is important because it gets the reader involved in the story and sets the stage for the entire article. By the use of common sense and stories of experience she overall persuades the reader of her conclusion.…

As the presidential election approaches, America is split, debating between Republicans and Democrats, but there is one thing that they all would agree on: the price of gas, and how ridiculous it has become. Over the summer, for the first time ever the national average for gas hit four dollars a gallon. I am going to guess that I didn’t have to tell you that- you already knew. Since most Americans are against high gas prices, it makes it easy for a cartoonist to publish works relative to the subject. Marshall Ramsey’s 2008 cartoon,” Make them wish for $3 dollar gas,” focuses on the role of the oil corporations in the highly inflated price of gasoline by depicting the company heads as greedy conmen swindling money from the U.S. citizens.…

I’ve been labeled several times as just a white girl by people who don’t really know me too well. I’ve been told that I “don’t really act like a mexican girl”,”I don’t sound spanish”,” or “you’re pale for a latina.” I am aware that yes, I am pale, I don’t speak spanish, and that I’m quiet or shy. I’m made aware of this whenever I visit my mom or my dad's families. One one side, i’m too white. On the other side, too dark. I’ll be the black sheep in a house full of blonde-blue eyed christians, or the white sheep in a house full of tan spanish speaking catholics. I’m just not the same.…

Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) delivers the student address at Harvard Law School’s 2004 graduation ceremony in the movie Legally Blond. In the film Elle is a misguided student who gets accepted into law school upon false pretenses, merely to get back with her ex-boyfriend. He broke up with her because she was not suitable to be a future Senators wife, he claimed she lacked intelligence and only had her looks to depend on. Everyone’s doubt pushed her to stay determined, confident, and come to the conclusion that she does not need a man to justify her life. She also realizes that passion fuels the ability to become successful. This speech is very effective because of the rhetorical appeals of ethos, logos, and pathos used throughout.…
