"Me Talk Pretty One Day," written by David Sedaris, is a story about Sedaris' school experiences. This is an except from the story when Sedaris moves to Paris, France in order to learn French. The author uses imagery throughout the story to explain what things were like in and outside of the school. On the first day of class Sedaris finds out that the teacher that will be teaching them French is cruel and mean. The author includes gibberish in some of the conversations to show just how much French he knew and make the story relate to people taking a different language for the first time.
