Analysis: Caleb Sign The Non-Disclosure Agreements
1- Caleb signs the non-disclosure agreement. In the beginning of the movie, Nathan reveals he is dying to tell Caleb his secret invention. However, he must make him sign a non-disclosure agreement that would allow Nathan to observe Caleb's actions to make sure he does not leak some information. Caleb is unsure, but Nathan persuades. When he finally signs the agreement, Nathan lets him into his secret: Ava.

This event happens right at the beginning of the story. It affects the whole movie and story, and without Caleb signing the NDA, nothing we saw in the movie would of hapenned. While Nathan was trying to persuade Caleb into signing, Nathan told him that he could simply not sign the paper and hang out with Nathan for the week as friends. However,

The fact that she got skin and dressed up gave this away. When Caleb talks about the thought experiment, Ava imagines the situation in her head. She imagines the woman as herself. I believe that this accentuated her need to leave the facility. Near the end of the movie, she asks Caleb to stay in the room. I think she wanted him to stay to get him to understand what it felt like to be trapped like she was. She then stepped out of the facility and felt real life for the first time. She switched roles with Caleb; Caleb became the knowledgeable but trapped soul in the room, and Ava was a free human.

3- Caleb asks Nathan about what will happen if Ava fails the test. Ava asked Caleb the same question, but he did not know the answer. He then asked Nathan, who explained to him that he would download her data and erase her mind. He then realised that Caleb had emotions for Ava. The next day, Caleb told Ava that her memory could get erased, effectively "killing"

Indeed, he was sad when he learnt Ava's fate from Nathan, and instantly started his plan to free Ava by refilling Nathan's cup to get him drunk. He then went on and reprogrammed the security protocols while Nathan was unconscious. If he wouldn't of asked about Ava's fate, maybe he wouldn't feel she was in such danger and wouldn't of went to the extreme of freeing her (against Nathan's will). Another interesting thing about the question he asked is the fact Caleb's view on Ava and Nathan changed. Caleb now viewed Nathan as the bad guy, and Ava as the good one. He revealed this during the next session with Ava, where he told her she was right and Nathan could not be trusted.

4- Caleb hacks the locking system. During the first night at the facility, Nathan told Caleb the system would lock down all doors when a power outage occurred. This was for security purposes, to avoid people getting inside the building by simply pulling the plug. However, since Caleb desperately wanted to free Ava, he saw this as an opportunity to help Ava escape the facility. When Nathan was drunk, he stole Nathan's keycard, went to his room and rewrote the security protocols. Nathan had no knowledge of this event

It's a redemption for both Caleb and Adam. Caleb now had the chance to move beyond his guilt with the knowledge that his father forgives him, and Adam had let his son know he is sorry for favoring Aron. The ending is logical to the rest of the novel by following the same motif, sins, favoring, and redemption. Previously in the novel Adam's brother Charles sinned by trying to kill him one night during an argument, and later Adam's son Caleb indirectly caused the death of his twin brother Aron. Adam's father preferred him over Caleb, and that caused hatred between the two of them, and their father never asked for forgiveness or admitted he was sorry. Unlike Adam's father, Adam had the chance to tell his son he was sorry for his favoritism with his final blessing. Redemption came for Caleb in the end. Once he was finally forgiven he was able to understand the full meaning of timshel. Now that his evil mother and saintly brother were gone, he didn't have to choose either extremity. He could walk down the middle road and overcome the agony of the past. And now that you don't have to be perfect, you can be good.…

There was a possibility that Nathan was first identified by his Tory cousin, Samuel Hale. Ultimately, however, it was Rogers who would catch America’s first spy. Rogers gained Hale’s trust with a simple lie, stating to be “upon the business of spying out of the inclination of the people and motion of the British troops.” Afterwards, he invited Hale for dinner in his own quarters. They would talk as friends until redcoats had the house surrounded and arrest the spy. But when finally brought to General Howe in the British camps, Hale “at once declared his name, his rank in the American army, and his object in coming within the British line,” Hull reported. “[He] frankly acknowledged his rank and his purpose as a spy.” Hale accepted that he was going to be hanged the next morning at 11:00 AM, September 22,…

In “First Confession” by Frank O’Connor, Mrs. Ryan’s method of teaching the negatives instead of the positives, is basically her using reverse psychology. Being taught more about hell is a way of saying if you do not do something you will be punished. The ultimate punishment of your sins is being demised to going to hell and not being forgiven by Jesus or God himself. If you were to leave out any particular sin in a confession, the Holy himself will know. Mrs. Ryan explains this by telling a story of a man who was killed in a priest house and left behind burn marks, because he was condoned as a demon. Instead of sprouting wings, the man was taken to Hell. I believe that Mrs. Ryan’s method of reverse psychology is way of getting the students…
