Indledning:

    Arturto Banuelas Analysis

Like Fr. Deck, Msgr. Arturto Bañuelas tends to focus on practical theology and real issues that affect Latinos and Hispanics in the United States; and of course, no discussion of these issues would be complete without touching on immigration reform. Bañuelas’ experience with immigration is a personal one. He grew up in the El Paso-Juárez communities on the U.S.-Mexican border and saw the massive disparity between the cities firsthand; the situation, as he himself was described it, was that “For the past 15 years, El Paso has been ranked as the second safest city in the nation [The United States], while, just across the border, Ciudad Juárez ranks the second most dangerous city in the world.” (The Lies Are Killing Us: The Need for Immigration…

Europe in the mid-nineteenth century was a tumultuous continent surging with popular movements. In particular, there was a notable increase in nationalism, not only amongst countries that were united but as well as in regions of divided states that were bound by a shared language or culture. Perhaps the greatest examples of nationalism during this time were the movements for unification among the Germanic states as well as among the Italian states. The Risorgimento, or rather, the movement for Italian unification, spanned more than half of the century, and can be considered one of the foremost historical examples of cultural nationalism. It was a period of intense Italian patriotism as well as of fervent political activity. The movement for Italian unification did not only involve the Italian states, but also put the interests of other great European powers at stake.…

    Veni Vidi Analysis

Veni, Vidi, Vici is persuasive because it exploits the opponent's weaknesses by the use of artful rhetoric to sway the audience and the use of themes and motifs from the play. The title “Veni, Vidi, Vici” shows a clever use of irony since the quote is usually associated with Caesar, but in our video we support the conspirators. The trailer immediately starts off by branding Rome in 44 BCE as, “A time where emotion took over reason” (1) and shows a scene of Caesar refusing the crown. Emotion vs. reason is a theme from the play because many character’s lose the sophistication of their occupations by letting their feelings of fear and pride stand in there way. By establishing Rome to be in a dire condition, I use an ethos appeal to make Brutus…

A few months ago, a Harvard senior named Reina Gattuso wrote a column in the school newspaper. It described her crummy night of drunken sex with a couple of men she didn’t know. “I have so much to drink my memory becomes dark water,” she wrote. She freely admitted that she consented. Enthusiastically. And that was the problem. She thought she would enjoy it, but instead she just felt rotten!…

Benito Mussolini’s development of the National Fascist Party in 1919 (H, 2010) provided great hope for a suffering nation of Italian people. Although Fascism grew quickly with an optimism of ending great economic and social turmoil, Mussolini’s Fascist ideologies eventually lead to an isolated nation. By further exploring the history of Benito Mussolini and his radical Fascist ideologies, it is easy to comprehend the attraction of such a concept, especially during times of immense suffrage. One factor not taken into consideration is an inherent fundamental human principle; a person’s aspiration for individual freedom and rights.…
