Anacondas are very interesting snakes. They come in different shapes, sizes, and colors. They are very large, can be found in many different places, have a very interesting diet, and they have a varying behavior.
Anacondas are extremely large animals. The average length for a female anaconda is 15 feet, with Males coming in second with an average of 9.8 feet.The average weight is around 550 pounds. However, this is only typical for green anacondas, they can have a diameter of 11 inches. The head of a green anaconda is narrow compared to the rest of its body. Yellow anacondas are typically smaller, reaching an average adult size of only 9.8 feet. The largest known Anaconda was 30 feet in length. Anacondas are a part of a group of snakes called constrictors, constrictors are not venomous snakes. Although the snakes do have teeth, they are not used for killing prey, constrictors strangle their prey by wrapping their body around it and squeezing until it is dead, then they swallow it whole. You may be wondering how. An anacondas jaw bones are loosely connected to the skull, there for their jaws can unhinge, giving them a very large mouth. Yellow anacondas can be found in way more places than the green anaconda, including, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, western Brazil, and Northeast Argentina. In these places they are normally found in the areas such as swamps, marshes, and brush. Anacondas feed on pigs, deer, caiman, birds, fish, rodents, and other animals.
