An Inconvenient Truth
An Inconvenient Truth The climate crisis that our planet faces has become an ever-increasing and extremely controversial issue. In the book “An Inconvenient Truth,” Al Gore goes beyond the political and economic implications of this crisis and states that global warming is a moral issue that humans need to address. For years, scientists have been examining the reasons for the changing climate and have come to the conclusion that global warming is real and it is serious threat to the world. Eventually, this threat will lead to major catastrophes that will cause epic destruction of our planet. Gore’s main purpose in this book is to expose the lies and misconceptions regarding global warming and to inspire the public to take action. Global warming is already occurring and it is a result of human activities, not a natural occurrence. Gore’s commitment to fighting global warming dates back to his days as a college student when he first recognized the environmental crisis. However, the turning point in Gore’s life came when his son experienced a serious accident as a young child and Gore was forced to prioritize his life. This was a defining moment in Al Gore’s life; he realized what was most important to him; his family and the environment. Gore uses personal anecdotes throughout the book to connect to the audience. From his son’s accident to the death of his sister, he uses these stories to ignite emotion in the reader to show the importance of what is at stake if we do not make an effort to improve the effects of green house gases on the planet. Gore also tries to spark interest and feeling by comparing global warming to Adolph Hitler. People ignored Hitler and his heinous actions, hoping that he would eventually go way. However, nothing happened until the world took action and put an end to Hitler’s regime. Similarly, people around the world are ignoring the effects of global warming and until we act, this crisis will not go away. Perhaps one of the most

Daniel Botkin and Al Gore have very different views on the issues of global warming. Botkin contends that the scare tactics used by Gore and many similar thinking environmentalists are simply a desperate means intended to alarm the public and force governments to take actions that are unnecessary and misdirected. Gore alleges that immediate action is necessary to avoid increases in the plant and animal extinction and the spread of diseases. Botkin admits that global warming is a fact, but as a scientist, he cannot agree on the severity and negative effects of the condition. While both men present compelling different arguments for their views on global warming, Gore has seized the attention of the public laymen by writing books and articles carefully aimed at this segment of the population, producing and Academy Award winning film on the subject, and winning the Nobel Prize for Peace in 2007 for his work in behalf of the issue. Botkin has continued to direct his position to the academic and scientific communities by writing textbooks and scientific articles and avoiding the public debate. Both men accept the fact that global warming exists, but Botkin renounces the gloom and doom predictions of gore and other environmentalists and contends that scientific evidence does not support the fatal forecasts of Gore and his fellow alarmists.…

The consequences of global warming, according to Al Gore in his documentary “An Inconvenient Truth,” are catastrophic to say the least. In it he depicts a world in which the sea level rises more than 20 feet, destroying nearly every highly populated city in the world. The average temperature rises significantly as a result of an overabundance of greenhouse gases. All dry land remaining becomes like that of a desert. The Gulf Stream and oceanic currents that we depend on completely stop and wind patterns change as a result of the dilution of the ocean. Finally, civilization as a whole collapses under the weight of the consequences we could have avoided. It is a truly horrific tale that strikes fear into almost every viewer of the documentary, as it did to me as well.…

Al Gore is a politician and environmentalist that gave his speech “Climate Emergency” at Yale School of Forestry in 2004. He also presented it during the presidential campaign that same year. He argues that the Earth’s environment is in fact vulnerable, and that humans have a big impact on it. In his speech he uses scientific facts, statistics, maps, and graphs to demonstrate. Gore explains why he used the title “Climate Emergency”, “it is intended to convey what it conveys- that this is a crisis with an unusual sense of urgency attached to it, and we should see it as an emergency. The fact that we don’t, or that most people don’t is part of what I want to cover here” (Gore, 861)…

An Inconvenient Truth An Inconvenient Truth is a documentary film that was produced by former U. S. Vice President Al Gore in 2006. The film endeavors to educate people about the environmental crisis. In the presentation, Al Gore thoroughly discusses current serious environmental issues and their likely consequences. Gore’s argument is supported by fundamental theories, scientific data, and solid evidences. The movie declares that every person has the responsibility and power to save Earth. In order to accomplish this, action must be taken. Though the film reveals several trivial logical fallacies, the presentation is generally funny, compelling, engaging, and ultimately convincing. Although some critics declare that the film contains more bias than truth, Gore’s attempt to inform the public about global warming significantly promotes the value of social ethics. In the opening scene, Gore presents this thought: “You look at that river gently flowing by. You notice the leaves rustling with the wind. You hear the birds; you hear the tree frogs. In the distance you hear a cow. You feel the grass. The mud gives a little bit on the river bank. It’s quiet; it’s peaceful. And all of a sudden, it’s a gear shift inside you. And it’s like taking a deep breath and going……Oh yeah, I forgot about this.”(Gore) This monologue implies Gore’s message about climate crisis. The 80-minute-long presentation focuses on Al Gore’s travels and his endeavors to educate people about the severity of global warming and its effects. Solid scientific evidence and significant examples are used to support the argument that society’s continual ignorance and the increasing release of pollutant gases will lead to a fatal catastrophe for the planet. The primary evidence in support of this thesis is Gore’s examination of increasing temperatures and CO2 levels over the past 650,000 years. These factors could lead to several possible consequences. An Inconvenient Truth predicts the collapse of an…

An Inconvenient Truth by Al Gore, is a documentary that tells us about Global Warming. He tells us, Global Warming involves solar radiation in the form of light waves passing through the atmosphere. Most of this radiation is absorbed by the Earth and warms it. Then some of the energy is radiated back into space, by the Earth, in the form of infrared waves. However during this process, some of the outgoing infrared radiation is trapped by the Earth’s atmosphere and warms it; which in return keeps the temperature at a livable and somewhat constant level. In this documentary Al Gore uses Logos, Ethos and Pathos to argue global warming, and the terrible effects pollution can have on our planet.…

The first thing that Al Gore does to make a logical argument for the problem of global warming is he provides a chart showing the carbon dioxide emissions as the years have gone by, this allows us to see real problems with global warming because it not only shows that global warming is real shows what’s going to happen if the traditional American ways are continued. Al Gore also uses before and after pictures to establish logos through inductive reasoning. He shows before and after pictures of the Earth as time has progressed and also shows us pictures of what happening to our glaciers and how they are melting by the second. This is a small observation that infers a larger theory without providing it. This basically proves effective because it shows us the extreme effects of global warming allowing us to believe that global warming is an extreme problem and is leading to the degradation of all these things. All of these effectively convince Americans that global warming is a problem resulting in them wanting to do something to fix it. The carbon dioxide graph also establishes logos through deductive reasoning, it gives us specific facts about the past, present and then the future if we continue to practice the things we are now. The give facts to his audience, the American people, and convinces them with number that truly establish global warming as a…
