The play's "tragic" hero, Sir Robert Chiltern is an accomplished government official, considered by all as an ideal husband and model politician. As described in the stage notes, Sir Robert has effected a violent separation of thought and emotion in his personality; moreover, he suffers from divided loyalties. Though a portrait of distinction and good breeding, Sir Robert conceals a blemished past. Extremely ambitious, he succumbed to the nefarious advice of his mentor, Baron Arnheim, in his youth, coming to hold power over others as life's primary pleasure and wealth as the age's weapon toward winning it. To some extent, Sir Robert holds wealth and power in similar esteem today. At the same time, Sir Robert has had to conceal his past from his wife in hopes of keeping her love. As detailed below, Lady Chiltern's love is predicated on the worship of his perfect image; so desperate is Sir Robert to remain in her esteem that he will even agree to resign from government in Act IV. Torn between his true and ideal selves, Sir Robert suffers from a nervous temperament throughout the play.…

There are many things I look for in a relationship and in a partner, loyalty and respect being at the top. A relationship is based completely on loyalty and the trust that you must have in your partner. I would never want my partner to make me feel like I was a second choice or not good enough for them, just as much as I would not want my partner to feel that way. Loyalty is about support and allegiance, my partner needs to support my decisions and my goals one-hundred percent. Respect is to admire your partner’’s abilities and achievements and to never put them down. A relationship is two sided and must stay balanced for it to be healthy and functioning.…

    An Ideal husband

In the story An Ideal husband by Oscar Wilde, there many themes. Some of the themes that are represented by the movie are, rich versus poor. Another is theme is how the rich have much more influence over the poor. The third theme is how the powerful tends to make the life of the weak miserable. Lies often bring unnecessary problems whilst the truth does indeed make everything much simpler, another theme of the movie. However the most intriguing theme, in my personal opinion is the idea of what a husband is supposed to be like, in another word an ideal husband. The play’s title represents Lord Goring and Sir Robert Chiltern in a very delightful manner. The meaning though changes as the play goes on and on. At first one would think the meaning was being able to provide to one’s wife. Then as the scene continues it turns out that being an ideal husband has to do more with being honest and brave.1…

Although there are many kinds of faith, confidence is an aspect of all kinds of faith. The confidence obtainable in faith is very distinct from other manners of confidence. Faith and confidence are so similar that one cannot be in continuation without the other. Feelings and beliefs are very closely related; therefore confidence being the feeling of assurance, and faith being the belief in being assured, they are often mistaken for each other. Confidences through faith are in family, friends, mentors, values, and religion with the only doubt presented because insincerity or deceit may be the result. Very strong commitment is required when placing faith a person or thing, many people often shy…

Friendship is one of the greatest gifts ever bestowed upon mankind. While making friends may be easy, finding true and loyal friends who provide a lasting and fulfilling friendship is a much greater challenge. A real friend is one who stands by her friend in the hour of her need person deserts her friend at a time when she needs her most, she cannot be called a real friend if two persons simply know each other, and they can call friends. The real test of friendship is, therefore, not mere acquaintance but the will to render timely help to a friend in distress. It is indeed very difficult to find a true friend in this world.
