An Exciting Week Analysis
Another exciting week has begun. As usual, I used my phone to signed-in to the virtual classroom to get acquitted to the weekly learning activities. The next day, I entered the virtual classroom via my laptop and had a second reading at the required tasks for the week. I copied and pasted the various assignments into my MS word processor for offline reading. I also had the chance to view the solution for the programming assignment, unit one.
On Saturday, which is mostly my free schedule, I started reading the chapter three of the recommended textbook. I spent the whole day reading and taking notes of key information. Very lengthy and at times boring. After reading up to page 96, I paused, took some time off to concentrate on the other activities. I returned in the evening to continue my reading and note taking.
On Sunday, I read through the assignments. The discussion question seems clearer, however, the programming assignment got me confused. The more I read, the less understanding I got. With a bit of conviction, I entered the virtual classwork again, downloaded the recorded video for unit 2 unto my computer. I watched the video once, twice and thrice but with no antidote to the programming assignment. I viewed the unit one programming solution again and graded my colleagues accordingly. After this, I

My first attempt was below average, however, I scored the highest mark after the second attempt. I logged-out from the virtual classroom to work on the discussion assignment. I got enough information from the internet as well as from the textbook. I posted my work on the platform, and commented on the assignments of my colleagues. I learnt enough from their answers. The programming assignment remains my main headache as I sat down in a serene environment thinking out deeply. The main issue is how best to incorporate the TextIO.java into my

That is not really more or less than what I thought, I’m reading them on time which is what I expected, I do finish my books a little earlier than usually which is good, but I’m not surprised or disappointed in any way. I learned that while you are choosing a book, you have to choose one that is a good match. You can’t read a book that takes you five days or read a book that takes you twenty. It also can’t be to challenging, or too easy that you don’t learn any new words. It was easy for me to choose my book because most of the books were very interesting as well as having a huge library to choose from and having other forty minutes. The biggest challenge these two weeks for me personally was reading during spring break because to read twenty pages a day is a little tough if that day you can’t read at all. For example on Sunday I went to church early in the morning and then went right to my cousins house for Easter, and then go to another relatives house, which made me get to my house above 10 o’clock so I couldn’t read much during the days that were that jam…

The discussion forum this week was difficult, time consuming, and incredibly brilliant. There are so many forms and permutations to the for loop and for-each loop that it may take years to master them all. Getting the sample code to run cleanly for each version posed a significant challenge. This is perhaps why the vast majority of the sample code in the student responses where buggy. There where however, a number of notable exceptions, which provided me with the solution to my own coding issues. My grade assessment for the post came in at 9/10. Had the assessors left a comment as to where my work was deficient, I would have welcomed the grade. Alas some people do not give out 10s, even though they have no problems receiving them. I had an idea to start attaching a small java program to my discussion forum replies which includes all the sample code included in my post. It's a…

At first it seemed as if my summer was never going to end. I was spending up to eight hours a day learning material. I had made friends around my grandparents neighborhood, which made my time miserable. Not to mention they lived next to a beautiful park. My parents were insistent on me spending my time with my books, which ultimately payed off in the end. At the end of summer I was reading two…

This is slowly replacing paper based homework as all homework submitted now needs to be sent through the VLE. This improves learning as the teachers can directly communicate with the pupils across the VLE, offer support and track the…

On a bright September morning, young students filled the playground of High Tech School. It was the first day of school. All the young pupils sported their bronze color tans along with new fall fashions. The sparkles in their eyes displayed their excitement for the new school year to begin. The night before, they dreamt about how wonderful their teacher would be, how colorful and magical their classroom would look and all the fun, educational things they would learn. As the bell rang, they all sprinted to their assigned doors and waited with anticipation. For some students it would be their first time walking into the building and for others it would be the year they learned how to write. However, something different happened this year, the doors opened automatically and there was not one teacher to greet them. As the children made their way to the classrooms, they were disappointed to find no colorful decorations or signs welcoming their return. By this point, each student was very nervous to walk into their classroom in fear that they would find something worse. Their inclination was right. The walls of each classroom were bear, each desk owned a computer, and a computer board replaced the chalkboard. This year the students would not be taught by a teacher, but instead a computer, they would not be learning how to print or write, they would be learning how to type, and instead of textbooks, they would be researching through the internet. Slowly they would learn to be dependant on the machines for creativity while theirs slowly diminished.…
