We are living in a scientific age. Science has given us a number of inventions and discoveries.
Science is trying its utmost to contribute to the happiness of man. It has extended the horizons of human knowledge. It has added immensely to man’s capacity for work. It has helped him in the field of medicine. It has enabled man to delve deep into the ocean and to fly high in the air. It has enabled man to send rockets to the other planets. It has contributed to human peace and progress.
It has also provided man with destructive weapons.
Science has brought man nearer to man. It has abolished distance. Journeys which took months in the past are now performed in hours. Trains, buses and cars are all the inventions of science. The aeroplanes and spaceships are latest inventions. Baby moons travel at a speed of about 18,000 miles per hour. They go round the globe in an hour and a few minutes. Supersonic planes have come. They fly at a speed higher than 800 miles per hour. All these means of transport have made the travel easier. Now-a-days crossing the oceans, climbing the mountains, and traveling across the deserts involves no trouble. You have to get a seat in an aeroplane and the job is done. It takes practically no time. During a day time you reach any point on the globe with the help of a fast
aeroplane.

Space exploration has always been fascinating, and it gives us hope of finding something new. According to the video “Space Race: 20th Century Timeline and Firsts,” “though the idea of space travel was discussed for hundreds of years, the field of rocketry got its first big boost in the early 20th century.” A century ago, space exploration was just a concept or a dream for mankind, but this idea had been accomplished by the developed of powerful rocket which overcome the force of gravity. In the beginning, on March 16, 1926 an American physicist, Robert A. Goddard, launched the first liquid fuel rocket in history. After World War II, the United States and the Soviet Union created their own missile programs. On October 4th 1957, the Soviets launched the first satellite into space. Later on, a national goal of “Landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to Earth within a decade” was set by President John F. Kennedy in 1961 (Space Race). On July 20, 1969, Astronaut Neil Armstrong was the first man walking onto the moon. The space exploration improved for the century, and now the advances of technology have pushed space travel to go further and discover other planets in solar system. However, in order to explore universe in details, many scientists have endeavored very hard to invent more new high technologies. Therefore, with its high technologies, space exploration has a lot of impacts on us today. For example, with the satellite system put up in the space, the weather forecast today has a high accuracy level, and this accuracy has helped in preventing many calamities. Besides the weather forecast, the satellite system also helps people to transmit the news or media all over the world almost instantly. Moreover, the researching space becomes a high paying jobs for many…

Happiness, in today’s times, has been a goal in which a countless number of people pursue. That being said, there is not just one single type of happiness, but multiple forms of it. Happiness is something which varies from person to person, some with greater amounts of it than others. One individual who discloses that there are at least two kinds of happiness is Dan Gilbert. In his presentation “The Surprising Science of Happiness,” Gilbert states that “natural happiness is what we get when we get what we wanted, and synthetic happiness is what we make when we don't get what we wanted” (Gilbert, 2006). He further elaborates on this claim to display its authenticity with examples and instances where synthetic and natural happiness are displayed.…

The definition for happiness is the mental or emotional state of well-being characterized by positive or pleasant emotions ranging from gratification to intense joy. Though this is a reasonable explanation, happiness can mean many different things to other people, for it is a concept that can vary significantly according to context or conditions. It is because of this variety of interpretation that psychologists emerged and tried to determine these distinctive concepts of happiness, in order to help the public change their negative style of thinking as a way to make normal life more fulfilling. Psychologists have studied the nature of happiness for quite some time, but there are some who are cynical about whether we can or even should study happiness. One psychologist by the name of William James believed that his own field of positive psychology was no science at all, as it is only “the hope for a science.” James’s pessimism, in relation to psychological science, brings up the question, “is it truly possible to study happiness when we undermine our experiences of this concept by focusing on achieving it?”…

Whether the discovery is 200 years old, 100 years old or present, it's science nonetheless. Science is all around us, from the laptops we use to the cars we drive, something had to be discovered and study for us to able to use either. Maybe it was chemical combustion to get the energy from oil so our cars can move, or even some physics to help us understand how much energy we can save if we make something for aerodynamic. Science is to discover information about our natural world, and even about space, to help us understand our existence.Science has helped to improve the lives of people around the world. Today, science has improved human health and medicine to help people live longer, and help people live with diseases people had little hope of living with a few decades ago, such as AIDS. While our scientific advances continue, ethical questions arise about how science should advance, such as stem cell research. Mary Shelley, author of the novel…

    4. Industrial-age travellers moved rapidly between countries and countries and continent by train or steamship. Urgent messages flew along telegraph wires. New inventions and scientific “firsts” poured out each year. Between 1830 and 1855, for example, an American Dentist used an anesthetic, or drug that prevents pain during surgery; and American inventor patented the first sewing machine; a French physicist measured the speed of light; and a Hungarian doctor introduced antiseptic methods to reduce the risk of women dying in childbirth.…

Once upon a time in the world, before the early human civilization, there was not any technology developed and not any technological equipment were made by human being. With the time, gradually people searched and researched many things, discovered many new things, and invented many important useful things for the mankind. For instance. People used to travel place for which transportation is much important for travelers, so human invented many technologies and ways to transportation to make the travel much easier and convenient. At the beginning people made things which helped them to travel from one place to another in short distance, after that they invented things which helped to travel longer distance, and finally inventions were made which were helpful to travel around the world and out to the space. Therefore, technology developed gradually, one after another as people found it the most important and necessary for the human civilization and existence. In the same way, today’s science and Technology should be improved in order to promote and help our community and mankind of this world.…

It's difficult to overestimate the role of science and technology in our life. They accelerate the development of civilization and help us in our co-operation with nature. Scientists investigate the laws of the universe, discover the secrets of nature, and apply their knowledge in practice improving the life of people. Let's compare our life nowadays with the life of people at the beginning of the 20th century. It has changed beyond recognition. Our ancestors hadn't the slightest idea of the trivial things created by the scientific progress that we use in our everyday life. I mean refrigerators, TV sets, computers, microwave ovens, radio telephones, what not. They would seem miracles to them that made our life easy, comfortable and pleasant. On the other hand, the great inventions of the beginning of the 20th century, I mean radio, airplanes, combustion and jet engines have become usual things and we can't imagine our life without them. A century is a long period for scientific and technological progress, as it's rather rapid. Millions of investigations the endless number of outstanding discoveries have been made. Our century has had several names that were connected with a certain era in science and technology. At first it was called the atomic age due to the discovery of the splitting of the atom. Then it became the age of the conquest of space when for the first time in the history of mankind a man overcame the gravity and entered the Universe. And now we live in the information era when the computer network embraces the globe and connects not only the countries and space stations but a lot of people all over the world. All these things prove the power and the greatest progressive role of science in our life. But every medal has its reverse. And the rapid scientific progress has aroused a number of problems that are a matter of our great concern. These are ecological problems, the safety of nuclear power stations, the…
