An Analysis Of Special Needs In John Steinbeck's Of Mice And Men
“I put all my trust into you not knowing what I was going to lose”(unknown). A man with special needs, Lennie Smalls, struggles to live a normal life and being in a time period where people with special needs do not get treated right only adds more weight into striving. After the death of Lennie’s aunt, Clara, George promises to protect Lennie. In John Steinback’s novella, Of Mice and Men, Lennie trusted George to protect and stay with him through thick and thin. George knew that he would be able to live a better life without Lennie’s disabilities holding him back. After a tragic event made by Lennie, George was left with a heavy decision. Lennie trusted George with his life, but what he didn’t know was that he was the one going to end it.
