An Analysis Of Adeline Yen Mah's Chinese Cinderella
Adeline Yen Mah’s 199 autobiography Chinese Cinderella follows her life beginning in 1941 and ends in England. She describes herself as a unwanted daughter who no one cares about because her mother died giving birth to her. Her family considered her as a bad luck and she was made to feel unwanted all her life until she overcame the odds to prove her worth. Yen Mah explores the idea of family and relationship through the representation of Adeline’s relationship with Aunt Baba, Niang and Big Sister.
