The novel “Animal Farm”, written by George Orwell, was written as a reference to the Russian Revolution during the Second World War. The main characters of the novel were two, Napoleon and Snowball. The animals in the farm were facing bad treatments from the owner of the farm, Mr Jones; therefore, the animals, led by Napoleon and Snowball, decided to raise a rebellion against Mr Jones and his workers. The rebellion succeeded, and the farm became owned by the animals. Throughout the novel, Napoleon and Snowball could never agree in anything. All of the sudden, one day Napoleon made a dirty move by convincing the animals in the farm that Snowball was a spy, and he was working with Mr Jones the whole time. This forced Snowball to escape from the farm leaving Napoleon the only leader in the farm. One of the most important themes…

theme and technique seen and used by characters in the book. Animal Farm is an allegory that focuses on communist revolution in Russia. Convincing and Propaganda were effective in Animal Farm because of glittering generalities, fear, and name calling.…
In Animal Farm there are three main characters Old Major, Snowball, and Napoleon. The Russian Revolution had three main rulers Vladimir Lenin, Leon Trotsky, and Joseph Stalin. In the book, George Orwell states that the animals are campaigning animalism, just like the rulers of…
Old Major shows a connection to the Russian Revolution through him representing Karl Marx in the story. Old Major taught Animalism, the idea that all animals are equal and that human weren’t needed for them to run the farm. He inspired the animals to over throw the humans and live equal lives, uniting to create an equal government and…
The story that this essay is all about is Animal Farm by George Orwell. I believe that the premise of the story is quite interesting. It is basically the retelling of a dream where world where all animals live free from the tyranny of their human masters. There are many great examples of all kinds of literary elements but the element of allegory is the most prominent in my opinion.…
The allegory is shown through many of the animals relating to historic characters and what they do in the story. For example, Mr. Jones represents Tsar Nicholas II. These characters in Animal Farm represent the mentioned characters because their actions are very similar to that of the historical characters that they represent. Snowball leads the revolution against the human oppressor and the animals start to follow him. At that point, Napoleon, expels Snowball and takes charge. After that, his animalism society slowly crumbles and he as well as his fellow pigs or practices similar to the humans; it is very ironic because the objective of animalism is to ban humans from Animal…
Maybe “events?” that occurred during the time of revolution in Soviet Russia. Allusion is an expression designed to call something to mind without mentioning it explicitly; an indirect or passing reference. For example, almost every character plays an influential role in history; Napoleon represents Stalin, Snowball represents Trotsky, and Old Major represents Lenin. Orwell uses these historical people as an outline to show how these characters develop. One such historical character is Stalin. Stalin plays the role of a dictator, and seizes control in Soviet Russia, destroying many lives. Napoleon plays a similar role, and ruthlessly slaughters innocent people because he believes it is necessary in order to be Not wrong, but maybe “have” the best and most advanced farm. Animal Farm contains more hidden allusions in which one must look deeper to discover, A bit awkward try revising including the less important characters such as Molly, playing the conceited rich class. This is shown in how she cares too much about appearance to aid in the revolution. Another lessor character includes Boxer, the horse who has blindly devoted himself to work harder for his “leader.” Boxer represents the working class, that blindly follows Stalin to their ultimate destruction, similar to how Boxer follows Napoleon until his own destruction. These allusions create the satirical tone to Orwell’s novel, and contribute to displaying the destruction that one corrupt leader can accomplish. Add textual evidence (eg quotes, pages numbers etc)…
In Animal Farm, George Orwell uses allegory for most of the characters, in this case which are animals that are personified. This means that the pigs aren't only animals that talk, read, write, and dress like humans but also have a meaning, if thought outside the box in comparison with revolution. Not only the pigs but for instance Boxer: "The passage in which the loyal but stupid workhorse Boxer is sold to be turned into glue, hides,…
Animal Farm by George Orwell is a novel that contains a plethora of symbolism. An example of symbolism is when the animals kick Mr.Jones off the farm. This is the symbol of the Russian revolution that began in March 8th, 1917. Another example of symbolism is when the Battle of the Cowshed started. This symbolizes the Russian Civil war, which outsetted because a few groups in Russia decided to try out communism, called the Red Army. Finally, the windmill was an example of symbolism. It controverted on whether Russia should spread communism to the rest of world. Trosky agreed on spreading communism whereas, Stalin cultivated that it was more important to work within Russia on strengthening the communist…
The idea of equality fueled by anger can lead people to act out and do what they believe is right. In the allegorical comparison to the Russian Revolution, Animal Farm by George Orwell, this statement holds truth. In the novel the animals represent the people, both tire and angry with the cruel treatment from their leaders they look for new hope. With the help of new ideas and the hunger to seek justice the citizens of both Animal Farm and the Russian Revolution fight for what they believe.…
When the influential and highly respected pig shares his realization, he encourages the animals to carry out his ideas and to, one day, accomplish such a dream where animals will be free from man and essentially, act out the ideas of Marx. Seventy years prior to the Revolt, Marx, known as the father of communism, writes The Communist Manifesto. His key ideas in his essay include: private ownership of land should be abolished, equal distribution of wealth; a classless system, and a communal life; everyone shares prosperity. Vladimir Lenin, a Marxist himself, planned to install these ideas after the successful Bolshevik Revolution and his ensuing rise to power. Old Major’s speech lists the flaws of man and its crimes against animals, and arouses the animal’s internal hatred for farmer Jones and mankind. “[The communists] openly declare that their ends can be attained only by the forcible overthrow of all existing social conditions . . . Working Men of All Countries, Unite!”(Marx and Engels). Just as Old Major’s speech focused on man’s capitalist-based greed, Marx recognizes the wealthy class’ absence of motivation to incite change for the overall benefit to the society in which they reside. He writes to show the working class of Russia that revolution starts with them and “have nothing to lose but their chains” (Marx and Engels). Although Old Major's Speech appears to contain an…
Orwell's Animal Farm is indeed an allegory. The reason it is an allegory is based on this excerpt from the story Animal Farm "Let us face it: our lives are miserable, laborious, and short." quote from Animal Farm by George Orwell. This quote is rather similar to how many people felt before the start of the Russian revolution. The rhetorical components of the allegory are the words that are used to make readers feel for the animals.…

The animals on Manor Farm thought that they were being treated unfairly so they decided to overthrow Mr. Jones. Orwell narrates’ “Jones and his men suddenly found themselves being butted and kicked from all sides (pg.19)”. This shows how the animals overthrew Mr. Jones. In the Russian Revolution the masses of people were tired of being treated unfairly by Czar Nicholas II so they decided to overthrow him just like the animals in animal farm.…
