American Nurses Association Nursing
There are many different factors that guide the nursing profession from the law, the American nurses association (ANA), to one’s own personal values. A nurse must be able to practice within the regulations that the state has set forth and follow the standards of care, scope of practice and code of ethics that the ANA has established. A nurse should also have his/her own principles and philosophy of nursing to help guide why he/she is in the nursing profession.

In order to use the abbreviations R.N. behind my name I need to register every two years with the state board and complete 30 hours of continuing education. It is also important to have a generalized understanding of the laws and regulations that the state board of nursing has set in a nurses particular state. In my personal practice I know that I am able to administer intravenous fluids with a written doctor’s order. This therapy has been established in Chapter 21.12 of Pennsylvania’s …show more content…
In order to provide the most up to date nursing treatments I need to keep myself educated. It is the responsibility of the nurse to continue his/hers education. In order to keep informed nurses can read journal articles related to his/hers field of nursing. Annual conferences allow a nurse to learn about the latest procedures, medications, and technology. Conferences are a great way to stay current and involved with other members of the medical field. Provision seven states that knowledge is reciprocal. The hospital that I work in provides me opportunities to stay informed with the latest technology by offering seminars and training sessions demonstrating new technology. The hospital also has a clinical education team on staff 24/7 in case a staff nurse needs additional information. All of the required certifications needed for a particular area are financially covered by the hospital, for example the hospital will pay for trauma course, basic life support classes, etc. Continuing education website is also offered to every nurse in the hospital in order to meet the 30 continuing education units required by the state to renew his/hers nursing license. The hospital I work for also offers incentives for a nurse to continue his/hers education by providing a monetary bonus for professional certifications such
