American Football
Football in America My experience with football has been the most memorable of them all since I was a little child. My first year of playing football was pop-warner football when I was about 8-10 years old and that experience changed my feeling and gave me an idea of playing high school football when I enter high school. Pop-warner is a little league football program for young kids that want to play for a main school to support their program for school. I did not think I will have the courage to play since I thought many other kids will be bigger and tougher than my size. But for the most part, most kids are usually about my size and starting new just like me. I really enjoy football very much and hopefully one day, I can be an Athletic trainer for a professional football team in the NFL.
The sport of Professional American Football is about young to mid-age athletes getting paid to play in the National Football League (NFL) and being signed to 1 out of 32 teams in the league itself. Many players usually start their football careers as soon as high school, then roll it into college to get their full practice and start training up for the NFL since players can be recognize and go to Scouting Combine to train up for the NFL. Based on the athletes performance in training during the summer, NFL coaches evaluated players on their skills and abilities on handling the ball. Coaches and their staff members or even owners of the teams pay players big bucks to just smack other players for 60 mins in a game. If the player ever get into any trouble with the law while being signed with that team, the team has the right to either release that player or just suspend him for a couple of the games or even just miss the season, depending on the situation.
During the time period of the 1800’s, football was not described as of “American Football” back then it used to be referred to as Soccer and Rugby. These two types of sports started in England, when rugby was not as

The pain my legs felt after practices was an indescribable feeling of hurt and success after a good practice. And that feeling still sticks to this day. I could not imagine what id be doing if I didn’t have football to play. It played such an important role in my life. It taught me to be more disciplined and respectful to people. Flag Football is a version of American or Canadian football. It is very popular worldwide. The basic rules of the game are similar to those of the mainstream game that is often called tackle football but instead of tackling players to the ground the defensive team must remove a flag or flag belt form the ball carrier “ de flagging” to end a down. Other rules are you can have a minimum of five players. No jewelry or things like that that would get in the way. All pads and braces must be worn above the waist. Bare feet are not allowed you must wear tennis shoes or rubber cleats. Cleats with metal are not okay if you do wear them you won’t be able to play. There are no set uniforms but you have to tuck in your shirt or jersey. You don’t need a ball or bat or racket of any kind to play this game. You just need flag belts. They are like a belt that you can clip or snap on to your body. They have flags hanging down that allow other players to pull off of you. They have to be visible to the other players. That is why their shirt has to be tucked in. Free kicks are not aloud in flag football only punting and it can not be quick punting that is not aloud either. Touchdowns are the biggest way to get points just like in American football. It gives the team six points. Each team is aloud two one minute time out period per half. The game can go from about one to two hours long. It is played all over the United States. There can be anywhere from as little of four to eleven or twelve players on each team. The NFL commissioner and team owners gather together to decide on what is best for the safety of their players. Such as on Aug 6 of 2010 when the NFL refs vowed to take more responsibility in protecting and keeping the players safe on the field (“New NFL rules”). NFL has also passed a new rule in 2010 that prohibits to hit an opponent in mid air that is attempting to field (Catch) a ball in mid air, this rule is very important for receivers or players who go onto the field for punt return because when going out to field the ball that has been punted you have to worry about the ball being in the air and worry about people coming at you to tackle you. This can be very worrisome and gruesome if a player gets hit while trying to catch the ball. Since this rule is being implemented the players will know they are safe in the back of their mind when fielding the ball (“Leagues official”). Rules in 2010 have been made to terminate helmet hits and from an offensive player to deliver a blindside block. NFL owners also approved a rule that penalizes (penalty) or a possible fine for the player hitting opponents with the crown of their helmets or with their helmets in general (“Leagues official”). There has also been cases of players with symptoms of a concussion and still plays, that will not occur anymore since the NFL has applied a more “stringent return-to-play”…

The first professional game of football ever played was at the college level. It was between two Ivy League schools named Rutgers and Princeton. The historical game was played on November 6,1869 in New Brunswick, New Jersey (Danzig, Intro). Before a standard number of players were regulated to play on a team, there were twenty-five men on each team. Football games were played in a series of three games and whoever won two of the three would be declared the winner, similar to NBA and MLB playoff series. The team that scored six goals first would win one of the games in the series (Danzig 3). The game was won by Rutgers University, at a time period where the captains of the teams would debate the rules right before the game. All of this was before Walter Camp stepped onto the football scene.…

American football as we know it originated from rugby played in Britain in the mid-19th century. The person who Americans consider the “Father of American Football” is Walter Camp.
