Alysia's Stories...
On the first day of November, I went on a learning journey with the primary four classes. I went to school but it was not a normal school day. I sat at the parade square waiting for students to arrive in the early morning. I was so engrossed in my conversation with my classmates about going to East Coast Park for a camping trip. We were really happy that we were going to stay at the campsite for one whole week! A few minutes later, the bus arrived. Soon, we left the parade square and boarded the bus. In the bus, we were so excited that our hearts were thumping with excitement. Everyone was seated in the bus. The engine started and the bus drove off. We were all feeling jolly. Everyone was talking to their friends so the bus was noisy. I looked outside the window and there were surprisingly a few cars on the road although it was peak hour. Before I knew it, we arrived the destination before schedule. We were all pleasantly surprised by the scenic view. We walked briskly to our campsite. The sun was already high up in the sky. Our stomachs were all grumbling when we reached the campsite. So we grabbed some beverages and snacks to eat and drink. We relaxed for a while on the benches before setting up camp. Not long later, we were grouped into fives to pitch up a tent. Everyone worked cooperatively with their groups. My teacher helped to secure my group’s tent tightly to the ground and checked that everything was taut. We were perspiring profusely. The teachers and students took a break under a huge shady tree after pitching the tent. After that, the students went to the nearest stream. We splashed water to one another and played volleyball in the water. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously. Two teachers were sitting by the shore, having a picnic while watching us. They became full and left the picnic basket alone. The two teachers joined the other teachers that's quite far away from the picnic basket. All the teachers were taking turns to play badminton.

I wonder when it will be time to go back inside? I thought. Just then a loud noise filled the playground.…

It was a warm sunny day, like the ones you would expect in a summer camp; laughter was the melody that filled the air. Everybody was cheerful and enthusiastic, well everybody except one of our counselors. He was very worried, because his sister had been extremely sick, and nobody had been able to heal her. Everybody in my group had told him how sorry we felt for her, but really nobody connected with his situation, so we were not thinking about it. Instead we were immerging our souls into the contentment that was surrounding us. That day while we were acting, everybody was relaxed, focused and happy on what we were doing. We were living in our own little summer bubble. We decided to take a small break, in between the laughs I remember a friend saying “Isn’t it surprisingly amazing how beautiful life can be?”. That was the last sentence said before a cell phone rang and changed the course of the day.…

Cuddled up around the heat of the fire, we chuckled while sharing stories about unruly campers. As we chatted over s’mores and hot cocoa, I recounted my experiences. Looking back upon my periods of apprehension, I realized that my worries were small. Through the madness, I found that the community I was immersed in taught me more about myself than I could have ever imagined. I learned that through my own resilience I can conquer any task, handling struggles with grace and resolve. I realized that I was my best self when I was surrounded with supportive people. I came home from HoneyRock with a Chaco tan and lots of bug bites, but more importantly with memorable adventures and valuable lessons. Glancing around the circle of firelit faces, I was assured that this had indeed been the summer of a…

Alys is an evil woman. She does everything a woman is not supposed to do. This leads to the thought that Alys might be tearing woman's image down instead of building them up. After all, Alys flaunts her body instead of covering it up. Alys uses her sex as a weapon instead of showing honor to God by remaining chaste. Alys wears bold colors drawing attention to herself instead of remaining as silent. These qualities do not mean she is bringing women down. Instead, they show how she is empowering them. She uses sex as a tool the very same way that man diamantine women with their strength. Two of his friends were going to meet him there, as long as everything went according to plan, which it seemed to never do. But after five and a half hours of driving, they finally made it. Tyler dropped out of the small SUV and looked around at his surroundings, their campsite was small, about the size of a large classroom, with trees as tall as giants surrounding them, down…

About the second week of camp the bus driver and I took a new route to pick up the kids. We rode down Halifax Street and then stopped at the homeless shelter. I said "Mrs. Carol," which was the bus driver's name, " why are we stopping right here?" and before she got to say anything I saw the two girls run out of the building. That was one of the most shocking moments of my life, but I didn't let the girls see my emotion, I just greeted them as I would any bus rider. Although I hid my shock from the girls, in the back of my mind I couldn't help but think of something to do for them since they were so well behaved and underprivileged at the same…

I was in class and she started to ask questions about the Holy Trinity. I was the only one to get a question correct, but unfortunately she didn’t have her prize box. She told me me with as sad voice that she was sorry that she didn’t bring it, but that she would bring it next class. I told her that I didn’t matter and that there was no hurry. I said goodbye to find my mom in the family center. The next day, I went on the bus to go to school. Once off the bus, someone called my name. It was my teacher! “I told you that I would bring it,” she said. “Thank you,” I said and picked my prize. I waved goodbye to her and walked inside the building to…

I observed Mr. Dave’s pre-k class at Montclair pre-school. I arrived at the classroom at 8:00 am to accessed the classroom as well to speak to Mr. Dave. We reviewed the day’s plan as I helped him clean up. While cleaning around the room I noticed how colorful the room was. There were: banners of letters and numbers hanging on the wall, as well as a large alphabet carpet on the floor for the kids to sit on, toys to play with and books to read. As the children arrived, they removed their belongings and placed them in the cubbies. Afterwards, they grabbed their name tags and set their lunchboxes on the lunchbox table. I played with the kids until class started at 9:00…

Last October 2012 is our semestrial break. It was 13 days of no classes(including weekends). My semestrial break vacation was full of fun and excitement and filled with laughter because of my friends and enemies that is so naughty, cheerful, joyous, kind, nice, humble, and understanding. In the other side its boring because in often days I’m just staying at home watching television, playing video games (like frozen throne, counter strike, Left4dead) playing computer, eating a lot of foods playing with my sisters and cousins and daily update in Facebook. Even though it’s boring I’m still happy because of my best friends who cheered me up and never forgotten me no matter what, and no matter how long time that we don’t see each other. Then the all Saints day approached and we must visit our passed away relatives in the cemetery but I was unable to go, I was so tardy that time and I’m full of laziness but in the second day of November I realized that I must go there because it is a sign of respect to our dead relatives that are buried there. When we arrived we hired some people to clean the grave of my grandfather (tatang) it was so dirty and there was so many weeds around the grave and we cant even see the words that are engraved there. After cleaning the grave, we all come together and eat our snacks that is prepared by my tita. I’m so full because of the suman we ate and the dendelot. When we got home we are all tired, so we all go to sleep and have a rest for us to be ready for tomorrow. When I waked up in the morning I realized that I have been so proud of myself to what I have done yesterday and I feel happy about…
