Alpha Fundamental Pre-School Observation
My search for a research site has brought me to various establishments, but choosing one that allows me to observe without any feelings of violations towards any individual is very tricky. My first few chosen sites felt uncomfortable, these were at a park (children playground), a bus stop, and a bank. Yes, I know. These places made me felt as if, I was the one being watched. My other places (ones that I didn’t get a chance to entertain were, a library, Dave and Busters, and a public train. However, after noticing a group of children walking with assistance heading towards a daycare located on Hempstead Avenue in Queens village, I decided to enquire about the daycare. The situation seemed overwhelming at times, with the witnessing of groups (actually two) intensely interacting with each other. After a few hours and being familiar with the after school student’s normal activity at Alpha Fundamental, factors explaining the high-energy of the after-school students includes: coming out of seven hours of educational institute (which may or may not involves exercise): a brief break at lunch time and another break for traveling two blocks to Alpha Fundamental: and finally a moment to eat snack before starting homework. At the same time you can say, the after school students are given more than enough time to adapt and adjust to the limits and rules of Alpha Fundamental Pre-School. In any case my proposition for this qualitative research is: after-school students are affected by the lack of extra curriculum activity or exercise which causes these students to engage in a high-energy behavior. Due to this high-energy behavior, after-school students have a hard time concentrating and completing their homework assignments efficiently and in a timely

    A common phrase among young adults in secondary education is that there are three parts to high school life: social life, grades, and sleep. Pick two. Clifton Parker, on a study by education scholar Denise Pope, states “spending too much time on homework mean[s] students [are] ‘not meeting their developmental needs or cultivating other critical life skills,’” Students [are] more likely to drop activities, not see friends or family, and not pursue hobbies they enjoy.” To achieve grades that fulfill collegiate ambitions, students must spend all of the time they may spend with family or friends on the homework that earns them points. Teachers often assume that a student’s overall productivity is defined by the amount of work completed in a night. Many end up assigning at least an hour of homework to assure themselves that the kids are learning. Real life productivity is defined by advancement and development of character or leadership. Through that lens, completing busywork is not productive. Once students reach the real world, they are underprepared and underdeveloped to face day to day challenges.     The biggest problem most school encounter is not supplying enough air circulation thought out the school, this is often times to a lack of funding. As a result outdoor air supplies per person in classrooms are often so low that carbon dioxide (CO2) levels are well above the recommended 800-1000 (ppm) causing poor air quality (P Wargocki, 2002). There hasn’t been any evidence to prove that higher or lower temperatures in a classroom causes a lack or inability to recall information, however higher temperatures make it harder for student for some student to stay awake or even maintain an attitude of learning. Other distractions such as visual distraction can come from open window and the use of cell phone in the classrooms. Windows without blinds can result in student becoming distracted with what is going on outside of the course of study. There is a policy that most schools are trying to enforce which will ban the use of cell phones in the class room which will limit the distractions such as texting. Social distractions such as talking or passing notes don’t just take away from the people who are doing the activity but those around them as well. Disciplines are enforced and some schools give after school detention, weekend school, and for repetitive distractions to a class student may also have a meeting with teacher and the student parents and discus a plan of action before dropping a student from a course.…
