All Family Law Group Website
The All Family Law Group’s website incorporates strong use of rhetorical devices: ethos, pathos, and logos to display the services of their firm, capturing the success they have had, along with proving they are a firm for the people. I also chose this website because it connects to the “Wedding-Ring” poem by Denise Levertov in that it is about the loss of meaning for the ring and the marriage which could lead to divorce. Furthermore, being that contact and communication is a very important factor for the firm between its lawyers and clients, the firm has provided many ways of contact all over their website from providing their social media sites, putting their phone number in bold

From the text at the bottom of the homepage, it is stated that their attorneys “are skilled at handling all types of matters pertaining to divorce and family law”, and more importantly have been “focused exclusively in these areas of law since 1997…” Simple logic would easily tell a person to go with this firm being that they specifically deal with divorce and have been since 1997. Divorce can already be a struggling and hard process for a client; therefore, dealing with the bills can just add more stress. However, the firm has placed a link on the bottom right of their home page that will take them to the PayPal website that is sponsored by the firm where they can easily pay with their credit card from an apple or android phone. This can really help take some stress off the client, so they don’t have to worry about it later. Turning the attention to how the use of the light brow/tan color helps a client logically appeal, brown shows characteristics of friendliness and approachability. The client will therefore, be able to feel they have a friend and are strongly supported by the staff. Lastly, by placing the outstanding red box on the home page where someone can email them directly from is a strong logical appeal. For a client it can be frustrating or nerve wracking trying to get a hold of lawyers. There might not be much contact information, waiting lists, or having to make an appointment. This feature gives the client a strong reason to consider the firm in that they know they can quickly email the firm right away and get a response without being on hold, being on a waiting list, or being forced to make an

    David Zinczenko is the editor-in-chief of Men’s Health magazine and the author of numerous best-selling books. Zinczenko is a man known for his work; his work and credibility shines bright because he has contributed op-ed essays to the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and USA Today. He has also appeared on Oprah, Ellen, 20/20, and Good Morning America. The fact that he is so accomplished in the area of eating healthy shows just how credible he is when it comes to discussing fast food vs. the eater. Zinczenko believes that the fast food industry is partly at fault for the growing rate of obesity. Although Zinczenko’s background and accomplishments gives us the evidence we need to know in order to trust his judgments, his emotional way of getting his points across make a difference as well. In the beginning of the essay, Zinczenko tells us about himself and how he grew up with troubled parents who weren’t together, and with very little options of what to eat for lunch and dinner every day. He explains that his options were mainly fast food, which caused him to be an overweight teenager. In other words, he uses his story of himself as a teenager growing up with family problems to draw people in and get them to sympathize with the overweight teenagers and get them to see that it is not all their fault and that it is, in fact, partly the fast food industry’s fault.     “The Squint and the Wail” is an essay by Michael Hsu. Hsu, a Taiwanese American author and editor, wrote this essay in order to express his views on the negative connotations that occur with some of the racially charged objects present in society. More specifically, the essay deals with the stereotypical nature of The Chin Family. The Chin Family is the name of Stefano Giovannoni’s tabletop collection, which includes salt and pepper shakers that have the caricaturized facial expressions of Chinese people (Giovanni, 404). In this essay, Hsu talks about the appalling nature of the stereotypical features and how those features pose a derogatory inference to Chinese culture, but then reciprocates his views on the tabletop collection to a more neutral stance. Hsu’s main claim is that it is derogatory to exaggerate on the racial-specific physical features of a race and to present that exaggeration to the public under the guise of an everyday tool.     In Dinesh D' Souza’s essay, "Two Cheers for Colonialism,” he attempts to convince the audience about several concerns regarding colonialism and Western civilization. He employs various methods to make the audience see his point of view. He uses a lot of emotional appeals, humor, ethos, logos, and anecdotes to argue that the West did not become influential through colonial oppression.
