Alice in Wonderland by Walt Disney

Alice in Wonderland is an animated film produced in 1951 by Walt Disney. Just by breaking down the title of Alice in Wonderland one can assume this is a journey of dreams and imagination. The definition of dream is to see or imagine in sleep or in a vision. Alice "goes down the rabbit hole" a metaphor for taking hallucinogenic drugs into a land of dreams and imagination. Join me as I take a deeper look into Alice's journey down the rabbit hole. This movie symbolizes lots of different drug uses and their effects. Some examples would be when the room shinks, cats disappear, and when her tears become an ocean. In the movie the caterpillar Dodo is also another example of drug usage when he smokes the water pipe which is usually used for marijuana. A scene in the film that symbolizes hallucination is when Alice falls down the rabbit hole and we can see that she takes longer to admire the hole than any real time person. Next, lets take a look at how the movie symbolizes dream. In one scence in the movie the Cheshire cat gives a rather puzzling quote "We're all mad here... I'm mad.... You're mad..." The quote basically states that insane things can happen indreams and they are precieved as quite real, and therefore dreams are just as real as the actual reality that ones accept. Another part of the movie where it symbolizes dreams is when at the end of the movie Alice is asking the door to open so she can get out and he says you already are out and then we look through the door and see Alice and see her sister waking her up. Lastly, lets look at how meditation occurs in the movie. In the scene where Alice is sitting by the river and then falls asleep could be defined as she was meditating. Another part is when she meet caterpillar Dodo and how he sits there for a long time and thinks before he says anything.
