Aim of My Life
Unforgettable incident of my life it was the first day of September. My result of i.com was to be declared on that day. I had been waiting for the day with anxiety and curiosity. I got up at six o’ clock. I took bath and prayed to God to grant me success. My mind was swinging between hope and fear. It was strange stage of anxiety and expectation
I was not sure what was slotted for me. My parents had high expectation of me. At one moment I was sure that I would pass obtaining Grade A. Again, I feared that if I failed or lost division. It is an established truth that there is also an element of change in every examination. In short, I was in a very disturbed mind.
The newspaper-boy had not yet come. The sand of time was running out. I was getting more and more restless. At last, the newspaper boy came shouting. I brought a paper from him. With trembling hands I opened the newspaper. Within a minute I found out my Roll No. among the Grade A1. I thanked to Almighty Allah for the success which he granted me. Then I ran to my mother and gave her the good news. She was overwhelmed with joy. My mother and brothers got up and rejoiced. The whole atmosphere of the house was at one changed. Many of relatives brought sweet boxes for me. The next day I went to my college to meet my teachers and headmaster. They all congratulated me.

Such people lead an aimless life and what they do in life, is largely a matter of chance, determined by the circumstances in which they happen to be placed. Aimless people do not achieve anything in life. They just live because they have to live. One should have a definite purpose of life. The people who want success in life, first of all, determine their target. They keep before them their circumstances, their

On the first day of November, I went on a learning journey with the primary four classes. I went to school but it was not a normal school day. I sat at the parade square waiting for students to arrive in the early morning. I was so engrossed in my conversation with my classmates about going to East Coast Park for a camping trip. We were really happy that we were going to stay at the campsite for one whole week! A few minutes later, the bus arrived. Soon, we left the parade square and boarded the bus. In the bus, we were so excited that our hearts were thumping with excitement. Everyone was seated in the bus. The engine started and the bus drove off. We were all feeling jolly. Everyone was talking to their friends so the bus was noisy.…

At that moment, I was anticipating how I was going to walk across the stage without falling down in my heels. As the people were calling the people in the front row, my heart starting pounding. In my head, I was thinking, ‘Wow, this is really happening; I am really about to walk across this long stage and receive my high school diploma.” When they finally called my name, I could hear my mother and my aunt screaming in the background. They were overly excited for me. I could hear my cousin screaming as well. She was saying, ‘Yasss, Atinuke, my baby did it”. As I was taking my long stride across the stage, I pictured my high school career, the friends I made along the way and the ones I lost due to them not rising to my level of academic success. All my thoughts came to a sudden halt when I had to take a picture with the principal of my school. From there, my thoughts continued to my experience attending prom, to some of my accomplishments throughout high school. As my stride came to an end, I shed one tear in realization that high school was over and my own journey was beginning form this day forward. As everyone was in his/her seats, the principal went to the podium. He announced the graduating Class of 2014 of Eleanor Roosevelt High School. After saying that, some of my peers decided to throw their caps in the air. In my mind, I really wanted to, but I was afraid of the aftermath of…

This was it. The IGNITE test, for which I had been preparing for months, for which my parents had tirelessly worked hard towards, had finally approached. On the 23rd of March, 2017, I stood in front of a gymnasium as daunting as a horror house from a thriller movie, praying my incontrovertibly futile wishes to the God.“ May the god be with you son, all the best of the wishes”, were my dad’s last words before a tall, blond lady dressed in the Glenunga International High School uniform directed us to a large, blue building not too far away. While nervously walking on a meticulously well paved footpath, my heart had given me beats in the form of shocks which still resonate within me. Entering the building, my…
