Aged Care System
Australian aged care system has been gradually progressed since the colonisation stage. Two Aged Care Reforms happened in 1985 and 1997 respectively. In addition, the Aged Care Act 1997 and Aged Care principles have also been developed to improve and support the local aged care services.
For instance, the Charter of Care Recipients’ Rights and Responsibilities – Residential Care and Charter of Care Recipients’ Rights and Responsibilities - Home Care established under the Aged Care Act 1997 to protect the rights of the consumers. They both detailed the principles of the user rights and responsibilities of the care recipients who live in residential care or home care.
