Abortion is an on-going debate throughout the United States. Americans divide 50% as pro-choice and 44% on pro-life. (Saad, 2015) Majority of women side with pro-choice, and being a woman myself, I stand with pro-choice. I believe that it’s an individual’s right to decide what they’re doing to their bodies, and no one else should be allowed to deny them of said right. There are many different reasons as to why someone would get an abortion. Whether it be from results of rape, birth control failure, teen pregnancy, or whatever the case may be, every abortion is thought out and no option is an easy option.…
Abortion is one of the most persistently controversial issues in American culture and (Williams)politics today. Since…
Mr. Ambrose has a new client T. Law-Tiller (MHSB) who is diagnosed Schizoaffective Disorder, Bipolar Type. This particular client is experiencing active symptoms and I think Mr. Ambrose would benefit from more in depth weekly clinical supervision so he will report to you instead of going through Mrs. Batille for this client.…

Throughout the twentieth century many controversial topics have sprung up but none more important than the right to life issue. With topics like murder, genocide, abortion, euthanasia and willful suicide that all violate the integrity of the human, there is no wonder why there is controversy. So discussing and arguing this topic, our class read Unwind by Neal Shusterman. Shusterman describes a future Second Civil War in the United States, also known as the "Heartland War." Shusterman imagines a world in which debates over abortion ultimately lead to armed conflict, in which pro-choice and pro-life armies clash. Eventually the country abolishes abortion and coming from this abolished law came a new law called “storking”, where a child left on a door step, wanted or not, must be taken care of by the family that owns the house, that is, until the…
The issue of abortion is by far, one of the most controversial topics in American History and everyone seems to have an opinion on the topic. Although there are many sides to the topic, the issue has divided the majority of people to the two extreme views of the topic --Pro-choice Vs. Pro-life. We can see the main arguments of each side just by analyzing the titles given to the two sides. Those who are pro-life believe that they are in fact Pro-Life and that abortion is murder. Those who are pro-choice believe that they are Pro-choice and that outlawing abortion would take the women's freedom to make a choice about her own body. Feelings and emotions about such an issue are very powerful and it has been the case that both sides will go to extremes to defend what they believe in. Such was the case Rosalie and Hector Zevallos, owners of an abortion clinic who were kidnapped and threatened with their lives, if they would not close down their clinic. (Glover, CC, 22)…
On Scandal’s winter season finale, a powerful message is shown without any words. Main character, Olivia is seen entering a doctor’s office and then assisted by a female medical professional, undergoes a minimally invasive procedure and then continues with her life. While this scene is going on “Silent Night” is heard playing in the background. Viewers of the show never did know if Olivia was pregnant or not and the fact that this seen showed her on the operating table made it a groundbreaking moment. The topic of abortion is rarely dicussed in pop culture which lead to Planned Parenthood’s president Cecile Richards to send out a tweet stating “Thank you @shondrarhimes…
As a physician, my strong stance against abortion, despite being interpretable as extreme, can actually be a very positive thing. A strong bias, rooted in a deep reflection on personal experience,…
"We Do Abortions Here: A Nurse's Story" by Sallie Tisdale, Published in The Norton Reader (Shorter 14th edition) pages 114-120. Nurse Tisdale article depicts personal accounts of her involvement during routine clinical abortions. Tisdale feels the need to justify society's lack of compassion and inability to comprehend the sheer magnitude of pain, suffering, and unnecessary death associated with legalized abortion.…
This documentary informed me that childbirth, is yes a billion dollar industry, and just like most things in our society is not geared towards “what is best for the mother.” Instead it is about keeping beds filled, getting them out as quickly as possible and refilling those beds. It was interesting to hear from doctors that the highest two times for a cesarean to occur is at 4pm and 10pm. At 4pm doctors want to get home to dinner and at 10pm they don’t want to be up all night. So instead we intervene, in a natural process, and make it happen when it is most convenient for us. To hear this I was shocked. I have always understood medical intervention to be a positive approach when needed, but never abused in such a malicious way. In a way that takes away a women’s choice to experience if she so pleases.…
The abortion presentation from the perspective of the unborn infant was saddening to say the least. I had never put much thought in this topic; especially not on this level. I had rationalized that if a child was not actually born into the world; it wasn’t truly a “REAL LIFE” being taken. I now feel different about this topic. The presenter did a great job. Although abortion is a touchy issue for many; I feel as though this presentation would affect anyone who viewed it.…
in 2011. In an article of MAY 29, 2014, Michael Stokes Paulsen, a law professor at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota, affirmed about the Roe v. Wade case, “After nearly four decades, Roe’s human death toll stands at nearly sixty million human lives, a total exceeding the Nazi Holocaust, Stalin’s purges, Pol Pot’s killing fields, and the Rwandan genocide combined. Over the past forty years, one-sixth of the American population has been killed by abortion (Paul Stark). Besides the social facts that this case brought, it is interesting to also consider the effects that an abortion is most likely to have on a woman. According to one study of 500 aborted women, “researchers found that 50 percent expressed negative feelings, and up to 10 percent were classified as having developed "serious psychiatric complications (David C. Reardon).” Moreover, researches founded that within eight after the abortion, 55 percent of the women expressed feeling of guilt, 44 percent accused nervous disorders, 36 percent had suffer sleep disturbances, 31 percent had regrets about their decision, and 11 percent had started taking psychotropic medicine (David C.…
Abortion has been a heavily debated political, ethical, and moral dispute continuing for more than a decade after it was legalized in the United States in January 22, 1973. This decade long debate between “pro-life” activists and “pro-choice” activists usually stem from ones ethical and moral values of whether it is right to surgically or medicinally terminate a fetus and the extremes, like death of the mother, which could occur from the pregnancy. In this debate, I would view myself as a “pro-choice” activist because I firmly believe that abortion should continue to be legal to decrease the number of unintended mothers, broken or single parent families, and family poverty.…
To say that this case caused outrage from the community would be an understatement. Andrew Bolt's coverage of this story in the article 'We kill Babies' has resulted in a surge within the pro life movement (including the beginning of LNA!).…
