After Duty Dogs Suffer Like Soldier: Article Analysis
I have chosen three different types of media to share with you about how significant the effects or consequences of war can be. I have selected some pictures from Eddie Adams the article “After Duty, Dogs Suffer Like Soldiers” and the video: James Nachtwey’s Searing Photo’s of War. These three pieces of media will definitely astound you. You may never think that war could have such a dramatic effect on people or animals.

First lets start with my article about a mans best friend. The article titled “After Duty, Dogs Suffer Like Soldiers” explains how war can have effect on animals, mostly dogs after they leave the line of fire and are home. This article suggests that dogs could suffer from PTSD or Post-traumatic stress disorder. We use …show more content…
There are some very traumatizing pictures on here. First I want you too open up your internet browser and get on google or your favorite search engine and type in “photographs by Eddie Adams” and search it. Now you’re seeing exactly what I am. The one picture that is sticking out to me is the first one on my page which is a guy holding a pistol to a civilians head. Now you may think nothing of this but let me tell you a very interesting fact about this picture. The guy holding the pistol has just pulled the trigger the civilian has a bullet in his brain at this very second. A second before or after this picture nothing would be the same. This picture is insane, the guy that was just shot in the head was just an innocent civilian that was shot just because the guy with the pistol could. The consequences of war. Innocent people were killed for no reason. War can obviously do so many things to people, just imagine that he was your husband and was just shot walking down the street. Not only is the dead guy affected but his whole family. They probably just witnessed there father, husband, friend get killed. The traumatic effect that would have on you and your family would be so great you wouldn’t even know what to do. Questions and thoughts would start running through your head like, Am I next? Maybe there was a reason he was killed that we don’t know about. You could go insane from things like this and suffer from major depression. There is another picture that catches my eye, there is a little girl and a couple other little kids behind her running naked down the road. Why are they running naked you may ask. They are running naked because they had just been hit with napalm. They are severely burned. There skin is peeling right off there body. You can’t see all those details in the picture but thats whats happening to them. They are little kids in the age group from probably 4-7. What did those little kids

    As a young adult in today’s society, I am constantly surrounded and influenced by images in the media. Whether a photograph, a film, a news segment on T.V., or something on the internet, visual images are becoming an increasingly powerful influence. During a time of war and destruction, America is constantly shown images of soldiers fighting, innocent citizens dying, and terror among those who want peace. Throughout history this has been the case with each war. However, it’s the images shown after war that I find most moving. The image of the five Marines and a Navy corpsman raising an American flag above the rubble of the Battle of Iwo Jima is one of the most powerful images I’ve seen. Iwo Jima was a battle that was fought from February 19, 1945 until March 26, 1945. America was attempting to capture the island from Japanese forces due to its two air bases and its close vicinity to the main lands of Japan. Japan was heavily armed but the American soldiers had a widespread navy fleet and a strong ground team and won the battle. When the fight had ended an estimated 22,000 of Japan’s soldiers had died along with 7,000 American soldiers. The dust had cleared and standing among the ruins were these American soldiers, proudly raising the flag of their country. This image of Iwo Jima, shot by Joe Rosenthal, not only shows the bravery and hard work of these soldiers through its use of emotional appeals, motifs, and composition, but also the destruction caused by war.…

    First of all, dogs can sense human depression or injuries. For example, I have a dog of my own, and if I am ill he never leaves my side. He can feel that I am sick, and joins be will I rest in bed. If a soldier got hurt during war the dog would would do the same thing. The text explained what Zenit did to Jos when Jose steep on the bomb, “They stayed like that, dog and handler, until at last the helicopter arrived and whisked them both away” (Paterniti 8). One of the great things about dogs, is their ability to understand a human, without even having a conversation. In a way they are like a therapist that, can read minds. On top of dogs being able to sense human emotions, they also comfort and care their handler when hurt. During the short narrative “Call of Duty”, Zenit was one of the first responders after his handler, Jose got injured. While Jose and Zenit were searching for IEDs Jose took the wrong step and the bomb blew up on him. Jose lost a lot of blood and the closest helicopter was two hours away. The whole two hours Zenit remained next to Jose and, even when the helicopter arrived Zenit went along with Jose. The text described it as, “Zenit lay beside his master, ears pinned to his head, chin resting on his paws. The dog knew something had gone terribly wrong” (Paterniti 8). Finally, the dog can make the solider feel better and secure while injured. Just imagine being sick, no matter how sick the person is, seeing a dog and the cute puppy eyes will always make them feel better. If the soldier get hurts on the field, the dog comforts them until they get medical help. Thinking about the pain only makes it worse so my the dog distracting them from the pain helps. The soldier might be hurt or recovering after war, and in the same way the dog would be there for them, and keeping their mind off of things. In conclusion, military…

    Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a type of anxiety disorder. PTSD usually occurs after someone has seen or experienced a traumatic event that involved the threat of injury and death.
