Tourism is the world’s largest industry with nature-based ecotourism seeing rapid growth since its initial arrival in the 1980s. It is estimated by the World Tourism Organisation that nature tourism generates 7% of all international travel expenditure (Lindberg, 1997) and this figure will have increased rapidly over recent years. It’s increase in popularity is due to a number of factors; tourists becoming increasingly bored of the typical sun, sea and sand holiday’s, the increase in global awareness or environmental issues such as global warming, deforestation and conservation efforts.…

Some common animals include elephants, giraffes, zebras, rhinoceros, buffalo, lions, leopards, kangaroos, ostriches and cheetahs. The climate factors have led to an open landscape with widely spaced trees. Many of the animals that live in savannas rely on speed for survival. For others camouflaging is better. The open areas of the savanna provide little means of escape from quick predators so they need a way to survive. There are a number of exotic plant species found in the savannas around the world today. Among the wood plant species are Prickly Acacia, Rubbervine, Mesquite, Lantana, and Prickly Pear. Many herbaceous species have also been found through the savannas. Some include Buffel grass, Giant rat's tail grass, stylos, and other…

I have spent many days observing the animals, watching them find the necessities of our human day-to-day life; for example finding food and water. This tropical terrain illustrates how animals in the wild do things very differently to those in an enclosed sanctuary. My journey was about to take an unexpected turn. It would become a tremendously memorable experience.…

    Savanna Biome

Some biotic factors are producers such as bermudagrass, jarrah tree, and river bushwillow which make energy from the sun which is sugar by the process of photosynthesis which primary consumers feed on. Primary consumers are animals such as zebras, elephants, and antelope who are herbivores that the secondary consumers who are carnivores feed off. Then there are your tertiary consumers a lion who is a carnivore as well that consumes both secondary and primary consumers. Last are decomposers such as mushroom, insects, and microorganisms that break down any remains of dead organism to gain energy as well for plants. Abiotic factors are are non-living chemical and physical parts of the environment that affect living organisms and the functioning of ecosystems. A savanna’s abiotic factors are weather, climate, soil, and water availability. Weather because it is hot and dry and this dries out water and plants leaving animals to migrate and have to come back until after it has rained or until the temperature is wet. Soil because although there is a diversity of it no crops can be grown only plants because it is not rich enough. The worst abiotic factor would have to be water availability many plants die off due to the lack of water now some store it but others can’t and many rivers dry up leading the animals…

In the Amazon Rainforest, new research is being done that has completely changed the way that we now see the Amazon. European accounts from centuries ago, tell of large Amazonian cities all up and down its banks. This idea was thought to be untrue due to finding that the Amazon soils were not actually fertile at all. But, that idea is now being challenged, with the finding of, terra preta. The reason that I decided to choose this topic is because I think it needs much more attention than it is given. Until this class, I had zero knowledge of Native Americans living in the Amazon at all. Therefore, I choose this topic because it has gone through large amounts of change in recent years and deserves more concentration. Lastly, this topic both…
