Active and Passive Person
From what I understand an "Active" person is referring to a personality that doesn't sit back and go with the flow but makes an effort to make things happen. Active person tend to be more outgoing , competitive and aggressive. A "Passive" Person is referring to a personality that laid back and takes life as it is, potentially lazy when it comes to achieving certain goals or dealing problems and never will jump into any kind of conflict. From the stories that we had read, I think Richard Wright's " The Man Who Was Almost A Man" , the character Dave personality is refer to an "Active" person. In the story, Dave tries to prove to others that he is no longer is a boy , but a man. So he decides that the perfect way to prove that was to purchase a gun and after he purchases the gun and went to the woods to practice his shooting but accidently killed his boss's mule. From this action we can tell that Dave is the person who takes action and tries to do them even though he might suffer the consequences for killing his boss mule's that make him choose to escape from his family. Overall he did tries to prove that he is no longer a boy but a man is a wrong silly way. From the stories that we had read, I think Kate Chopin's " The Story of an Hour " , the character Mrs. Mallard personality if refer to a "Passive" person. In the story, Mrs. Mallard was inform that her husband was killed on the railroad disaster. After she heard the news she want to be alone by herself in the room. Although she feel sad for her husband's death but inside of her she kept whispering "Free, free, free!" and "Free! Body and Soul Free". From this action I think She is the person who just laid back and wait for it to happen because from the stories she sound unhappy and not having any freedom when her husband was alive. She live all these years with her husband without taking any changes of her life but accepts and tolerates it to avoid friction and problems. From these two stories " The
