Acer Aspire E5-573G Laptop Review
Even if you're buying a budget laptop, you still want to make sure you get the best bang for your buck. There have been quite a few affordable all-round laptops from almost every manufacturer. You have the Lenovo Z50-75, the HP Pavilion 15, the Dell Inspiron 15, and the Toshiba Satellite L50-B. Then there are the Acer Aspire E1 and E5 series models, affordable 15.6-inch all-rounders that have been giving good price to performance ratios for some years already. Now, Acer is bringing in another player in the budget-friendly all-round laptop arena, and it is the Aspire E5-573G, the successor of the E5-571G.

But if you have the patience to remove a dozen or so screws, than this won't be a problem. This Acer model has a pretty decent unlit chiclet keyboard (if you're more of the backlit keyboard user, then check out the Aspire V3-574G). The keys are slightly roughened and they provide a short drop and clear pressure point, and the spacing between is good (a plus for those with pretty large fingers). However, they can be a little noisy, which might pose as a problem for late-night gamers who have roommates who are sensitive to noise. Its touchpad is a multitouch ClickPad with a smooth surface, a short drop, and clear pressure point. It is approximately 10.6 x 7.8 cm, providing enough room for using gesture controls.
There are three USB ports, two to support the USB 3.0 standard and one for a USB 2.0 standard. The USB 3.0 ports are located on the left side, together with the audio, HDMI, Ethernet, and VGA-out slot, so it can get pretty crammed when you need to plug in simultaneously. It is a mediocre AUO B156XTN04.0 TN panel display that doesn't produce very impressive colors, contrast, and brightness. When you tilt the vertical viewing angle, images are distorted so the screen can't be read from every position and it has a bluish tint. This is quite disappointing for a recent model, even if it belongs to the budget all-rounder types. So if you're planning to do some digital art or photo editing, consider doing that on another laptop. When you use the Aspire outdoors, make sure the sun is not shining too brightly because the screen's brightness is dimmed when in battery mode. Another feature to that leaves much to be desired is the speakers. However, they produce a decent enough sound that listening to them for long periods of time isn't too irritating.
