    Army Accountability 2

Seeing as responsibility and accountability go hand in hand, it only makes senses to first write on the importance of it and it's impact on military life. The moment a civilian raises their hand and swears the oath of the soldier they immediately become responsible for not only themselves but their fellow soldiers, their unit and many other things civilians are not accustomed to. When a recruit leaves for Basic Training they are responsible for arriving on time, having their paperwork, and being prepared for what waits ahead. Once a recruit goes through the in processing phase at their Basic Training Post they are issued their personal TA-50 or Table of Allowances 50. This includes the recruit's uniforms, load bearing equipment (such as the Load Bearing Vest, the MOLLE or ALICE rucksack, their eye protection, ear plugs, Nuclear Biological and Chemical suit and a plethora other items.) After arriving at their Basic Training unit the recruit is then issued, and accountable for, their personal weapon and chemical mask. The Drill Sergeants of the unit make the recruits sign a hand receipt to show that the individual is now accountable and responsible for their equipment. Throughout the training the recruits maintain accountability of their weapon and equipment, thus proving their responsibility to their Drill Sergeants.…

This essay will be about the importance of keeping the accountability of sensitive items. The US Army values soldiers that are accountable for their actions. The accountability of sensitive items affects the unit in many ways. AR 710-2 and AR 735-5 both cover the Army policy for property accountability. Some sensitive items are your weapon, military ID card, commo equipment, etc. Sensitive items are anything that can be used by opposing forces or the enemy to counter attack, weaken forces, and gain intel, and so on. People will sometimes get relaxed (complacent) or forgettable while not currently in a mission. If this happens it is very dangerous due to the fact that enemies are able to obtain any and possibly all of your sensitive items to gather information or harm you and your unit and possibly civilians for your negligence. This paper will explain the reasonings and methods behind, specifically, the guarding, securing, and monitoring of sensitive items of various types, as well as the consequences if such actions are not taken.…

Why is accountability important to the Army? Accountability is a very important part of an enlisted and a Non-commissioned Officer's (NCO) job. The enlisted soldier is responsible for all items issued to him or her such as a weapon, Night Vision Goggles (NVG’s), clothing, a vehicle, a field manual (FM), medication, or Basic Initial Issue (BII). The NCO's responsibility is to make sure that the soldier is accountable for such items and can retrieve those items when needed, so that he can report it to his higher command. Accountability also includes the most important piece of equipment the soldier him or herself. Anything that can go wrong will go wrong especially in combat, that is why the soldier should make sure the team leader or squad leader knows where his or her equipment is at all times. The Army spends a lot of money on equipment and other personal effects for soldiers, so the Army expects soldiers to know where their equipment is located. Layouts performed periodically throughout each year take accountability of property assigned to both units, companies and to each soldier. The hand receipts for these issued items goes to the highest officer to the lowest enlisted personal in the chain-of-command and back up again. An NCO may spontaneously ask a soldier to produce an Army issued item in order to test the soldier’s ability to locate that item in a timely manner. On the battlefield, every moment counts, and efficiency aids in the…

I won’t sit here and say losing my i.d card was completely out of my reach but things happen I’m only human. But I can assure you that it won’t happen again. But Losing a Military Identification Card has a lot of downside. There is no good in losing a Military Identification Card regardless of the situation and detail. Accountability in the military is extremely important, more so, Accountability of government property is very important. Losing government property leads to wasteful spending along with your chain of command's time. It is also important because with items like ID cards it also controls access to sensitive areas such as, getting on and off post. If your lost ID falls into the wrong hands you are therefore giving that power to someone who shouldn't be on post, which can put other soldiers, contractors, and military families in danger. Along with putting them at risk, you are leaving government property at risk of thief and/or vandalism. There are also very important documents and equipment that if fallen into the wrong hands can be problematic to OPSEC. Lack of accountability shows a lack of responsibility, and there is no room in the military for irresponsibility, we are all responsible for eachother's lives and well being down range and it all starts with our gear . Accountability is very important and crucial for success in the army. But when you join the military they utilize a specific kinds of identification cards. These cards are for any people that are in or related to the armed forces, whether it is marines ,navy ,and in my case the army. They are also issued out to family members and their dependants, and civilian Department of Defense workers. Military I d cac cards are required components of military uniforms in a day to day life of a soldier. In the Army regulation 670-1 it requires that soldiers must at all times carry a…
