Accountable For Romeo And Juliet's Death
Who is most accountable for Romeo and Juliet’s death? Imagine you’re in love with a beautiful young girl. The only major problem is that you parents despise each other, so you and the girl plan to run away, but before you can, she dies. Wouldn’t you think she would want you to continue living? There are many different opinions on who is responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s death, but in my opinion Romeo and Juliet are accountable for their own deaths. While a lot about people hold Romeo and Juliet’s parents accountable for their children’s deaths, Romeo and Juliet made the decision to kill themselves, no one killed them, or forced them to kill themselves. “Well Juliet I shall lay by your side tonight. Juliet in my opinion just in general makes bad decisions, and she is too quick to jump to stupid solutions, she doesn’t think. And in this case that’s exactly what she didn’t do. As soon as she saw Romeo, she decided to end her life, and much like Romeo, didn’t stop to think about all the people she was going to hurt. “Oh happy dagger! This is your sheath rest there and let me die!” –Juliet (Act 5 Scene 3) Romeo and Juliet killed themselves, Friar Lawrence even tried to stop Juliet, but she still killed herself, no one made ether Romeo or Juliet kill themselves, that was their decision, they are at fault for their fate. One of Romeo and Juliet’s conflicts was their family’s feud, and keeping their relationship in the dark, even though they had many, many opportunities to tell them. My first point proves that it was their fault, they literally killed themselves, no one made them do that, Friar Lawrence even tried to stop Juliet, but she still took her life. Romeo and Juliet’s decision to keep their marriage a secret added a lot of stress to their lives, probably affecting their decition to take their lives. Furthermore it was partially Romeo and Juliet’s parent’s fault they died. The negligence and carelessness or their family’s actions helped contribute to the downfall of their own children If they weren’t so busy fighting and trying to marry Juliet off to some guy the family barely knows, maybe they could have stopped everything that was happening, and their children would be alive, but they didn’t, and know they have to live with that for the rest of their lives. In conclusion, Romeo and Juliet’s actions lead to their death and they themselves had many opportunities to stop it.
