Accidental Universe

The idea of multiple universes to explain the knife-edge of universal parameters that we live in is very intriguing. In my mind the multiverse theory is at this point, equally as possible as God or a Creator setting the parameters we live in that allow the existence of life. Being as it is unproved and almost impossible to prove at this time; the theory’s that explain the knife edge of probability’s that we live in brings scientists to believe is some ways there own form of religion. At this poit what distinguishes the multiverse theory and string theory from religion is dark matter. If it is proved that there are other universes with different parameters for matter to exist; can there be life that exists within these other parameters of the possible universe’s and be completely different then life in this universe. I feel if the multiverse theory is proven to be more then a theory, it would further discredit religion as the reason for life to exist. On the other hand, I feel it is equally as possible for any of the religious views to be the reason why life exists. To me both seem equally as farfetched; I personally do not feel that the scientific universe we live in cares about life. We are such a small blip on the universal scale and even smaller if there is multiple universes. Because of this who, is to say that there was not a Creator or God who manipulates the parameters of the universe to create life. As I personally believe that there is an after life and a heaven I cannot discredit the idea of a creator. But I also cannot ignore science I would love to find out the truth of where we come from but I feel we are as close now as we were when religion was first thought of. There is one thing that I believe puts some truth into the multiverse is the string theory and dark matter. I do believe that dark matter is what makes up the ¾ of the weight of our universe. I believe that it is the link that could prove these scientific

In Townes argument, he is telling us that science is based on facts and logic conclusions while religion is based on faith alone. Townes said that science was used to discover order and to help us understand the world and ourselves. He believed that science was needed to help explain things in their simplest forms. On the other hand, Townes explained that religion was a way of acceptance through believing. It was a way for people to explain how they fit into the universe and how to give meaning to life. I believe that people have as much faith in science as they do in religion. It takes a large amount of faith to believe that our entire existence was created from the chaos of the universe. I believe that it is more plausible to have faith in…

The possibility of slipping in and out of a parallel universe is theoretically possible. (Howell)The idea is featured in famous comic books, and science fiction themed movies. Science.com has 5 known theories for the possibility of an alternate universe. One example provided was supported by the information of not knowing exactly how space time is shaped, it may be flat and go on forever. (Howell). Because the Earth is such an old age, many find it hard to believe human kind is the only known being in only one universe, in any shape or form. The possibilities are…

There are various views as to the nature of the world based on religion: dualism, monism, monistic theism, pantheism, pluralism, and theism. We are taught throughout different scriptures that God is the creator of our universe. God made sure that this universe had everything we needed to live a good life.…

A purely scientific view is to look at the universe, and using specific observations, recognize that there is an order of evolution and adaptation, but that this order is no more designed for us than it is for a mouse. A religious view is to look at the universe, be awed by it’s complexity and beauty, somewhat ignore the disorderly events, and give a higher power credit for so carefully designing a world for us. Yes…it is far more comforting to believe in a higher being looking out for us, planning and plotting each event that rattles us. Certainly Paley and countless religions have been solaced by this idea. However, with the next natural disaster spiraling towards us at an even faster rate than the last one, it may be time to recognize that we live in a universe of chaos. Regardless of how orderly that chaos is on the outside, it contains an unimaginable power to destroy us all. Not only is forgetting that a grave under appreciation for this powerful natural world, it is a mistake that could cost you your…

    Teleological Argument

The origin of life has been explained in terms of natural processes, but evidence of intelligent design is expressed by the mere fact that the universe allows life to exist above all other notions. It is still possible to sustain teleological arguments in light of modern scientific principles mainly because of the formation of right conditions to allow life. It is very unlikely that this happens by chance presenting evidence of an intelligent and supernatural being to produce life. Scientific discoveries show how complex and sensitive various conditions need to be for the origin of life for the universe (McGrath, 2010). The universe seems to have been fine-tuned from its inception to produce life on earth. Slight alterations of physical and cosmological quantities in nature would result to an imbalance that would destroy the existence of…

I do believe that religion and science can coexist. In the interview the commentator explains that one of professor Francisco Ayala's (Faith Matters. 2010, April 02) statements was that "science and religion need not be in contradiction if they are properly understood"..... "religion explains why and science explains how..... but they are one in the same" ( Lab activity: Chapter 1). They really complement each other and they don't have to be separate or contradictory to each other. When I think of religion I see it as a roadmap that leads to an expected end, and if I follow the directions I will make it to the right destination. The Bible that I have read explains how we should live our lives to obtain peace, prosperity, love and happiness. However, it does not say that there won't be hard times, grief or sadness, but it does say that there is a season for all of these things. In my experience all of these situations made me a better person and I don't know if I would have learned what I know now without experiencing them. It also tells me how to conduct financial business as well as how to love and respect others. It provides a structure for all mankind to follow that is guaranteed to lead to a purpose filled and meaning ful life. It also gives warning of what may happen if we do not maintain these principles and the damage that it could cause.…

69). Scientists have three different classifications for the universe. These are the classifications of the universe: one: It is what we can observe i.e., what lies in view of our current telescopes, two: It is a larger domain that we cannot yet see, but we could possibly see in the future, and three: everything there is, whether is it in our dimension or not, and whether it follows our universes’ laws of physics or not (Anonymous, 1997, Whole Earth pg. 69). The third in that list is what is considered the multiverse. There are multiple perceived different kinds of multiverse theory, but the third classification is the most commonly…

Parallel universe theory states that an infinite number of parallel universes exist. Getting more information about this theory can help you increase your consciousness toward the power of mind and soul. Modern physics has found out the efficacy of human brain. Your brain traverses the parallel universes all the time into higher dimensions, which make it possible to access the door to another universe. Human mind is much more complex than ever realized by science. Past life regression therapists are successful in taking their clients into parallel universes. You can get their help to increase your awareness about your mind and discover why the inner world affects your reality outside. You can also make use of this therapy to alter your perception of reality and create the life you want to live.…

Religions response to science has been widely assessed however both religion and science have agreed that nothing from the challenge of science has amounted to proof that God does not exist, even the famous scientist Richard Dawkins has accepted this fact. Many religious people believe that science can be part of god’s work and scientist believes that science and god can be alongside each other too. Science refer to this as god of the gaps, this is when the parts that science cannot explain must be god. However as it appears that science can explain how some aspects of the world could have been created and why these events happened it does not mean that god was not behind these events and making them happen and giving them a purpose which science cannot find the answer too. Here I can see that religion and science both together are successfully accepting one another as they both do not have concrete evidence to say wither one is right or wrong.…

I believe that is it perfectly normal, if not helpful, to have a belief in something beyond ourselves, such as God. Science cannot disprove our beliefs, as proven by those who believe in psychics and mediums, even though science tells us that neither of those exist. Though I am not quite sure an extraterrestrial is the reason for my existence, I do believe that science disproves the existence of God. How can there be room for ideas such as heaven and hell and an ever-present God when the universe is so vast and inconceivable to the human mind? In this aforementioned vastness of the universe, who is to say that more intelligent life does not exist and that science explains the complexity of Earth and human life. Therefore, like Shermer, in spite of what science says, I belief in the belief in God but not the actual concept of His existence because of…

Yes, I do believe that there is a higher being somewhere in the universe. It may not matter to a lot or most people but it definitely matters to me. It matters to me because one day there will be a judgment day regardless if we want it to be or not. There’s no perfect way of living your life but how you choose to live your life it does matter. I know what I know to this day because I was taught by my parents. We were a family that was strongly Christian like. I may not have understood a lot things when I was younger but now that I’m older a lot of things that I’m still taught I understand more. Yes, there is something beyond the physical, material world and beyond physics. The thought of existence beyond what we feel, have and believe in life.…

Metaphysics is the first branch of Philosophy in this discussion. This asks the question of what is real. At an early age we are taught that there is a heaven and earth. At different times we ask ourselves is there really a heaven. Based on what we are taught I believe there is a heaven and that there will come a time in our life that we will be in the place created by God called heaven. According to the bible, God created man from the dust of the earth. We live in the physical world and the spiritual world depends on each person’s spiritual belief.…

And there is third group who have disregarded religious proclamations and embraced science as the ultimate authority. According to The Theory of Evolution, there is a possibility that life has no inherent meaning other than as a value in service of survival. But the problem in this concept is, science is not providing satisfactory answers to the theists who can’t believe that we are out there in space floating around aimlessly. Science has reasonable answers to ‘How’ but not to the ‘Why’. Though religions seem to have answers to the why questions but again it doesn’t satisfy everybody.…
