In The Grapes of Wrath, by John Steinbeck, the narrator explains how a social issue affected the Joad family. The realistic novel mimics life and offers social commentary too. It presents many windows on real life in Midwest America in the 1930s. Throughout the 1930s, America was trapped in the worst economic era ever—The Great Depression. The Joad family is struggling to find salvation during this tough time period. Because of this, they must travel from Oklahoma to California in order to start a new life. The Great Depression affected everyone in the United States, some people worse than others. Steinbeck uses several different strategies to interpret the social issue during this time period. By using the literary techniques of setting, tone/mood, and dialogue/language, Steinbeck composes a creative commentary on the Great Depression and how it affected the lives of Americans.…

As an 8-9 year old boy, Rap music stuck with me for some reason. I remember hearing my mother play 50 Cent and Eminem in the car, on our trips to Canada. By the time we were home, I had the lyrics memorized. I will always remember changing the mids, treble, and bass to make it sound the best.…

I believe in respect. I believe that everyone should be treated fairly. I had a friend, well, I like to think I had a friend, who had the ability to make everything negative. She had the ability to make even the happiest person depressed. She was also very opinionated and and took down anyone and anything in her path. I have to give her credit, her opinion was always heard. But, that doesn't mean her opinion was always right. I would always try to tell her that something was wrong, or that she made someone feel bad, but she would never listen. She would just tell me that I was wrong and not her.…

The topic I would like to focus on in my research is drug addiction. Drug addiction affects millions of lives both directly and indirectly. First off I would like to discuss some general information on what can be described as drug addiction (such as the literal dictionary definition) along with some facts about drug addiction (such as statistics about how many people I effects world wide) and who is susceptible to becoming addicted to drugs along with characteristics of both a drug addict and someone who has the potential of becoming a drug addict. Next, I wish to discuss the difference between drug addiction and drug abuse and whether they are both similar or completely separate from each other. If they are similar what are the characteristics of drug abuse and drug addiction. Also what are the physical effects of drug addiction and what are the psychical effects of drug abuse , and also if any; what are the psychological effects that might accompany both the abuse of drugs and the addiction to drugs. This of course will all be dependent upon whether or not there is any correlation between the two or if they are in fact completely different. From here my research would be very straight forward giving examples of drug addiction based on what I find in my research, using the scholarly articles I read to both compare and contrast it to other's definition of drug addiction; while hoping to find a logical happy medium in what could be characterized as a drug addiction along with the psychological and physical ramification of drug addiction. I intend for this paper to be not a persuasive tool but rather a an unbiased view for my own knowledge about exactly what is drug addiction, and how it affects a person both psychologically, and…
