President Abraham Lincoln is considered one of the greatest United States presidents because he changed the United States of America. Abraham Lincoln is also viewed as one of the greatest presidents of the United States because he was an intelligent leader and ended slavery in the United States. Lincoln is deemed as a hero, he saved the slaves and the United States. Abraham Lincoln changed the United States when he declared the Emancipation Proclamation. The Emancipation Proclamation freed the slaves oppressed in the South. This proclamation changed the United States for the better; it would eventually lead to equal rights for all men. In this proclamation, it states, “all persons held as slaves…shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free”
