Abraham: Hero from Genesis
Abraham, a very important hero from Genesis, was the first person to believe in a

single God. He was the first to show devoted faith to God and risk everything to follow

God. He always found strength in his faith in God, but sometimes his unyielding, strong

faith was a weakness that almost got good people hurt.

Abraham is one of the most important people in the Old Testament because he was

the first person to believe in and be called by God. "The Lord said to Abram, ‘Go forth

from the land of our kinsfolk and from your father's house to a land that I will show you.

I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, so that

you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you.

All the communities in the earth shall find blessing in you."' (Genesis 12:1-3). This is

God's call to Abraham and God promises to give Abraham all of those things if Abraham

will do what God tells him to do. Abraham does what God says not knowing what he

might have to do in the future and only knowing that he is leaving almost everything

behind him. Abraham has no real reason to believe in God other than what God said to

him. Promises from a god that nobody knows and that one person has only briefly spoken

with is not much to base leaving everything behind to do what this God says. Another risk

Abraham takes is believing in, and following a God that no one else believes in. He

follows God through a pagan society where everyone worships different gods. Knowing

that God is the one and true god he openly worshiped God and put himself in danger, but

he always has faith that God will protect him.

Whenever Abraham needs help and strength he could find it in his faith in God.

Abraham's main strength is his faith because with it he is able to get through things that

are hard for him and situations in which he needs God's help.

With every test and story, Abraham wrestled and challenged God by asking questions. For instance, Abraham had a son with Hagar after long awaiting on the promise child of God with Sarah, illustrating that even Abraham doubted God’s extraordinary promises. However, in the end Abraham wholeheartedly trusted God and God’s plans for his life, a special relationship that continues in present day Judaism. Abraham’s embodiment of the virtue of obedience was practiced in word and deed, being an example for other believers to be a hearer and doer of the Judaism faith. As seen in this story, piety to God leads to obedience. His obedience was his function of his piety, meaning Abraham was dutiful because he was devout and .faithful. This suggest that the Judaism faith has an element of causality, which is summarized in the Judaism retribution theology that God will reward those who follow his commands and punishes those who disobey them as seen in the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.. Due to his unwavering faith to do as God commanded him, God did as promised: made him the father of a great people, gave him numerous descendants/ land, and a relationship with Him (…

In Judaism, Abraham is claimed the father of the Jews. Abraham is above all an admired Patriarch to whom God called out of Ur of the Chaldees, which is also known as the “land between two rivers” or Mesopotamia, in order to make a covenant with him. Through this agreement, God would bless him and give Abraham’s descendants a new land. In Genesis 12, it states, “I shall make you into a great nation; I shall bless you and make your name so great that it will be used in blessings: those who bless you, I shall bless; those who curse you, I shall curse. All the peoples on earth will wish to be blessed as you are blessed.” God led Abraham through a series of trials and travels in order to figure out whether Abraham was convinced that God was going to stay true to his promise. The most important trial was when God told Abraham to sacrifice his son which will be further mentioned later on in this analysis.…

It would do us no good to have spent the previous five chapters talking about everything and everyone being strategic, if we didn’t talk about how to obtain and maintain our strategic victory. Therefore, in the next few paragraphs I am going to give us a few ways that we can obtain, and then maintain the victory once we receive it. It would be impossible to talk about obtaining any type of victory without talking about faith. The bible declares in Hebrews chapter eleven verse six that without faith, it is impossible to please God, for they that come to God must first believe that he is God, and that he will reward them that diligently seek him.…
