RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN NANOPARTICLES.

INTRODUCTION

Nanotechnology is a multidisciplinary scientific field undergoing explosive development.
Nanometer-sized particles offer novel structural, optical and electronic properties that are not attainable with individual molecules or bulk solids. Advances in nanomedicine can be made by engineering nanoparticles that are capable of targeted delivery of drugs. This leads toward the concept and possibility of personalized medicine for the potential of early detection of diseases and most importantly, molecular targeted therapy. Promoting nanotechnology for diagnosis, prevention and treatment is the focus of the recently developing multifunctional nanotechnology. Engineered nanoparticles have the potential to revolutionize the diagnosis and treatment of many diseases; for example, by allowing the targeted delivery of a drug to particular subsets of cells. However, so far, such nanoparticles have not proved capable of surmounting all of the biological barriers required to achieve this goal. Nevertheless, advances in nanoparticle engineering, as well as advances in understanding the importance of nanoparticle characteristics such as size, shape and surface properties for biological interactions, are creating new opportunities for the development of nanoparticles for therapeutic applications.

Today Nanoparticles are developed in so many varieties and in many industries. Nano particles are developed in cancer therapy, photodynamic therapy, etc...GoldNano particles also developed in clinicaldiagnosis.

    With history, one must begin with the past. Of course, like most things, nanotechnology was just an idea or concept; a concept that was proposed by the physicist Richard Feynman in 1959. He stated that he wanted to build tiny factories all manufacturing simultaneously. He continued to say that it does not violate any laws of physics and has not been in practice only because humans are too big. The practice of it began to develop when the scanning tunneling microscope was created. This enormous microscope allowed humans to view the height of individual atoms. What was seen looked like some alien landscapes. However, using the same machine, they could also move, pick up, and place the atoms, rearranging these landscapes into their own. Nanotechnology is starting to skyrocket these days. It is one of the major studies right now. Many products are already using nanotechnology. These products are batteries that have longer life spans, sunscreen that doesn’t whiten the user’s face and bandages that kill bacteria. But what will there be in the future?
