For some, they are overwhelmed with shock. After that wears off, they are left with various emotions that include grief, anger, frustration, and helplessness. Whether or not you realize it, you are in the process of beginning to mourn a lost family member. Abortion is a sensitive topic that requires a considerable amount of understanding when addressing the ethics behind it. Abortion is defined as the termination of pregnancy thus ending the life of the embryo/fetus prematurely. My ethical justification for abortion stems from a rule-utilitarianism standpoint. When using the rule-utilitarian consequential principle of ethics, we establish a set of general morals and rules in which we can apply to every moral question based upon our utilitarian findings. When this is applied to abortion, we can see that abortion is a completely ethical entity that provides the greatest amount of happiness for the greatest amount of people. Since utilitarianism in general is based on the empirical evidence that supports the widespread happiness of many, it’s important to include statistical data to support one’s position. By looking at the medical and social health benefits of abortion, we can come to the conclusion that it is ethical on the basis that it spreads happiness amongst a great number of the populace. The following statistics reflect the social, physical, and emotional benefits of abortion:…

There are hundreds of social problems in the USA today and one of the most complicated is abortion. Abortion is so complicated because it affects a woman’s body, causing it to be a very personal and emotional issue, but at the same time because it is affecting a future American citizen, it becomes a problem that America as a society has to deal with. This causes America to be split into two sides, one side claiming that it should be the woman’s choice since they think it affects the woman alone and the other side claiming that it affects society as a whole and can’t be left to the woman alone to decide. The later position would seem to be the accurate claim considering the fact that over 50 million babies have been aborted in America since…

Abortion is arguably the most controversial topic in all the issues revolving around reproduction. Women of all different races, classes, and religions have been practicing abortion since before the colonial era in America. The laws pertaining to abortion have changed many times, adding and removing discrepancies and stipulations throughout many years, and still to this day. The views of abortion in society during different time periods have also changed and adapted. At the time of Sarah Grosvenor’s decision to abort, the laws pertaining to abortion did not make the act fully illegal. However in years after Grosvenor’s case abortion was outlawed. The law played a minor part in women’s decisions to have an abortion, however society, and gender played the most prominent role in the decision of abortion.…
