Over forty million babies have been legally aborted since 1972. Almost fifty years ago a case dealing with women rights was taken to the Supreme Court fighting for the ability to have an abortion as a solution to ending a pregnancy. This case is supported by people across the world who feel that it is the mothers right whether or not it is time to have a baby. Many women feel a tremendous stab in their egos when thinking about losing the right to abortion: “No woman can call herself free who does not control her own body” – Margaret Sanger. The truth is a child should not be a choice, it is a life brought upon oneself and deciding to end it is a cruel unfair murder. Although people believe abortion should be a choice left up to the mother, it is an act of murder towards an innocent life that should not be taken lightly by people across the world. According to Google, abortion is defined as “The deliberate termination of a human pregnancy”. Abortion has been taking place throughout the world ever since the beginning of time along with other crimes such as theft, assault, and other forms of murder. Many people who are against the concept of being pro life stand by their decision by advocating that an unborn child does not count as a life. As stated on the “Mayo Clinic” German 2 website: “Just four weeks after conception, the neural tube along your babies back is closing and your babies heart is pumping blood”. Most abortions take place 6-10 weeks into a pregnancy therefore terminating a life with an already beating heart. People do not always realize that by making the selfish choice of killing a baby, they are truly committing a very serious murder which like any other can never be taken back and will consciously be around them for the rest of their lives. “New study shows 85 percent of women say abortions cause mental health issues” was an article written by Steven Ertelt informing that 42 percent of women who had abortions had experienced major depression within the last four years. Women often times have the illusion that getting rid of something that at the moment feels like a burden will solve their lives forever when in reality that is not the case. The taking away of a life is something that will stay present in a person’s life forever no matter how many years go by and will undoubtedly cause serious anguish and remorse in the life of the carrier. Not only are you killing a future person, you are also killing a small part of yourself that you will never be able to take back and will hurt your life forever. Also, women feel that by not being able to have an abortion they are being restrained from their civil rights. In reality, the only person being restricted of their rights is the baby. If someone does not desire the bearing of an additional life, why not give the baby up for adoption? There are additional alternatives to not dealing with another child without having to do a murder and still find a happy home where the precious life will be loved and appreciated. German 3 Also, a controversial question among society is whether or not it is acceptable for a woman who conceived a life while being raped to abort a baby. While a murder is a murder, the only time acceptable for an abortion to be taken under consideration is if the mother poses a possible danger. While being raped is a horrific tragedy near one of the worst crimes that can possibly be committed, to kill an innocent life along with it would only add to the gory of a situation. Unfortunately, when someone is put into such situation they naturally want to forget about what has happened and feel that by having the baby their life will be forever ruined. In reality, the horror of the event will always be present and killing a baby will not take away what has already happened. Although it is easier said than done, people need to realize the miracle that is brought upon them when such a horrific event can create something as powerful as a human life. A poem written by Ebony Angel exemplifies the anguish felt post abortion: “I can't believe I took your life I know now and I knew then, I had no right. It was a selfish choice than I made. I chose myself when your life, I could have saved. I thought it would be easier to terminate But I still feel the remorse 3 years to the date”. Therefore, if a woman does not want to bear with the life of another child they should at the least bear with them for nine months and let the rest of their life be lived with someone who appreciates them. Being born is a miracle that forty million people were denied without ever having a chance to present themselves and perhaps gain the love of the person who did not give them a chance in their heart. "I am happy to be alive. I almost died. Every day I thank God German 4 for life. I do not consider myself a by-product of conception, a clump of tissue, or any other of the titles given to a child in the womb. I do not consider any person conceived to be any of those things" is what Gianna Jessen, like other survivors, speaks about her gratitude towards life that unfortunately gets denied to millions of people across the globe.
