Vidal3 Babies are beautiful creations that humans have the ability to create amongst themselves. It is the natural drive of humans to find a partner in order to bring a baby into the world. However, participating in sexual intercourse could result in unwanted or unplanned pregnancies. These unwanted or unplanned pregnancies usually result in an abortion. “Abortion is the act of removing a human embryo or fetus from the uterus of a pregnant woman prior to the completion of the full term of pregnancy (Rich)”. This leads to the death of the fetus in the uterus giving the unborn child no choice in their right to live. The phrase "right-to-life" originally applied to debates on capital punishment, health care, euthanasia, and others. It was first used in relation to pregnancy and abortion by Pope Pius XII in 1951. 93 percent of abortions occur for social reasons, 6 percent of abortions occur because of health related reasons to either the woman or child, and 1 percent occur because of rape or incest (“Abortions Facts….”). It is absurd that 93 percent of abortions occur because of social reasons. “One cannot legally end the life of another person simply because their existence makes one unhappy because their right to life takes priority over ones right to happiness. In essence, the right with the greatest level of priority when two priorities are juxtaposed is the one that is more fundamental. If the woman’s choice to abort her unborn-child in an effort to secure control over when she wishes to bare children after having already made the previous choice to engage in the child conceiving act of sexual intercourse takes precedent over the unborn-child’s right to continue living then the same moral logic that protects you and someone else from guiltless murder is forsaken. As a nation, everyone gambles with the lives of those who do not yet have a voice to defend themselves for the sake of allowing woman to escape the consequences of their previous decisions by removing every possible future decision from the child dependent on their bodies for growth and development
