According to Standards For Accreditation of Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Programs, “Accreditation is a nongovernmental process conducted by members of postsecondary institutions and professional groups. As conducted in the United States, accreditation focuses on the quality of institutions of higher and professional education and on the quality of educational programs within institutions”. Colleges and Universities are regulated by multiple governing bodies that have policies into place to keep each school on the same plainfield; those governing bodies are the NCBON (NC Board of Nursing), AACN (American Association of Colleges of Nursing),CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education).
