A Sprig Of Clematis: Poem Analysis
A sprig of clematis opens to dress with flair. Amid the rose cluster, it's sweet, fragrant and fair. My love, how pretty thou art, to thee, my words can't convey the feelings of my heart. The breeze, O, gently blows. The sound of song rapidly flows. O breeze, bear my heart when thou blow, to where the flowers grow. Quickly come, love of my heart, let's sing and work together, we'll never go apart.
O, what a beautiful jasmine is shown. A scented robe of charm, on you, grown. You're praised for the fragrant white you own. I take you down from the stem, and send you to someone. O jasmine, a name you have won.

But the roses they were loveliest of all. Never have I found in the green houses of the North such heart-satisfying roses as the climbing roses of my southern home. They used to hang in long festoons from our porch, filling the whole air with their fragrance, untainted by any earthy smell; and in the early morning, washed in the dew, they felt so soft, so pure, I could not help wondering if they did not resemble the asphodels of God’s…

In A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry, a working class, African American family struggles to realize the American Dream. The Youngers live in a small, Southside Chicago apartment. When a check for ten thousand dollars arrives, several members of the family assume it will be their ticket to a better life, perhaps even the realization of their dreams. The play takes its title from a line in a poem by Langston Hughes, “A Dream Deferred.” The poem presents various possible outcomes for those who are denied their dreams. Steven Smith argues that lines from the poem describe characters from Hansberry’s play. Steven Smith’s argument is correct. Both Mama, Walter, and Beneatha are sample evidence to the argument.…

"What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet" (Romeo and Juliet, Act II, Scene II, lines 43-44). The famous quote from William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is only one of possibly many instances through which Shakespeare utilizes the distinctive characteristics of flowers, particularly roses, to eradicate the rift between two contrasting subjects. A similar instance is within the poem, "Bridal Song," another work by Shakespeare that calls upon the beauty of several different flowers which, despite their different qualities, are all used along with several pleasant avian creatures to bless the holy union of the speaker and his spouse; Shakespeare portrays the amalgamation of these…
