A Shepherdess Adorned With Flowers By Gerrit Van Honthorst
As you see above, this is the picture I chose to use for this assignment. The picture is called “ A Shepherdess Adorned with Flowers” and it was painted in 1627 by a man named Gerrit Van Honthorst. The story behind this painting is that during this time era women would put flowers in girls hair as an act to show that they are ready for courtship or marriage. As you can see with the boy shepherd in the right corner admiring the young lady with flowers. I find this painting rather beautiful and graceful. Another thing with this painting is that it reminds me of how nowadays girls and guys get all dressed up when they are trying to impress someone they like or even look nicer for someone to notice and feel some sort of attraction. This is something that mankind has been doing for ages.

Also the three people behind the girl in flowers are all giving their attention to the flower girl. So the flower girl is the center for this kind of triangle view point. Now with this being so, the space in the picture is rather crowded. The three background are all very close to the flower girl. Now the texture with this picture is very renaissance style, has this very smooth looking texture. A rather graceful touch if I say so. I would also state that the perspective of this painting is both Color and Planar because the back of the painting gets darker and less detailed. Like for example the lady in the yellow dress, her color stands out more and is far more brighter than anything else in the painting. As the pictures goes on everything around her gets a little more darker in tell the background is all one
