“Ow!”Amber shrieked as she fell to the ground.
“Amber are you ok?” Aspen asked as she knelt down beside her.
“Oops … sorry,” Mackenzie smiled with a half grin.
“Why do you hang out with this retard anyway she doesn't even belong at Clinton Middle school?” Mackenzie smirked at Amber.
Amber snapped, “I like her because she is friendly and nice, unlike you Mackenzie, so why don’t you go away?”
“Fine, have fun being a retard,” Mackenzie said as she sashayed away.
Still sitting on the floor the two girls looked at each other for a good long while then both burst out laughing.
“Aspen thank you so much,”Amber said smiling.
“You don’t have to thank me it was the nice thing to do.” Aspen said smiling back.

Amber Brown has long jet black hair and hazel eyes, and she has two older brothers Christian and Michael. At the young age of thirteen, Amber also suffers from spina bifida, a disease that gives you spinal problems, often called by doctors as “a split spine”. This is why she has to put up with people calling her “retard”. Amber’s mom works at the hospital as a nurse and her dad is stationed overseas in the army. Amber’s best friend is Aspen Rossetti, and she has short brown hair, brown eyes and lots of freckles, and she also has three younger sisters Jenny, Caroline, and Izzy. Aspen’s mom works at The Coffee Zone (it is her mom's cafe). Her dad works at Florida State University as a history professor. Mackenzie Granger is fourteen and goes to school with both Aspen and Amber; they are all in the eighth grade. Mackenzie has long blond hair she likes to toss around, blue eyes and one younger sister Nikki. Their mom and dad are both real estate brokers.

Both girls went to class. Their teacher Mr. Woods was the craziest history teacher you have ever met he had brown hair,weird contacts that made his eyes turn bright green so no one wanted to look him in the eyes, even though it was rude he, didn't care. The girls favorite teacher was Miss Massey she was their art teacher and she was so nice and friendly but the best part was that it was their last class of the day.

“You’re late,” Mr. Woods stated loudly. “We are sorry Mr. Woods we couldn't open our lockers,” Both girls mummled.
“That explains nothing you both couldn't open your locker that's pathetic, go sit down” Mr. Woods laughed.
“Worst class ever.” Amber whispered.
“Totally”Aspen said
