My identity is music. Music is an open window into which we are. One only has to look through this window to see our moods, personality, and our hopes and dreams. When looking through this open window, I see myself caught in waves of sorrow in my own life. In between the phrases of music, my life is being told.…
Everyone has their own community or organization for which they belong to. Within that community you tend to find who you are and what you are about. For me I found my identity in being an outdoors man. Being an outdoors man at my young age seems to be rare at this day, but that doesn’t prevent me from doing something I love and appreciate. Growing up with my family full of avid outdoors men helped influence me and only made my identity stronger.…
There are a myriad of ways that we can form our identity. Identity reflects who we are, how we learn, grow and develop. Parenting styles, culture, and growth from one stage into another stage are some of the factors that affect our identity and makes us different from others. As we learn, identity includes sets of characteristics that describe different facets of each individual, such as our reactions, our behaviors, our feelings and our thoughts. In Saul McLeod article, he explains how during this stage, teens focus on their future. McLeod says, “Children are becoming more independent, and begin to look at the future in terms of career, relationships, families, housing, etc.” (McLeod). When this stage is accomplished and achieved, adolescents are able to move into adulthood being able to balance different roles and finding their identity.…

“ The article talks about watching on videotape does not alter our perception. It also talks about how our intimates and those who spend the most time with us know us best. But, even strangers have myriad cues to know who we are: clothes, musical preferences, or even Facebook postings. It also talks about how our parents and friends have different appearances about who we are. Our parents say that we are beautiful and smart, and they do mean it because they love us for who we are. “…
Identity is what defines us as a person. Everyone one earth has a unique identity. I made a collage of images called an identikit. The images on the identikit represent what kind of person we are or a side of us we want to show people. My identikit shows the hip-hop side of me. My identikit has images such as a break-dancer, which shows the power of hip-hop and headphones, which represents the soul of hip-hop. There are three assumptions that come to mind when finding your identity. The first one is that we are born with an identity, for example our gender shows what person we are. The second one is that our culture shapes our identity. The third is if the identity was shaped by the personal choices you made in your life. All three…

My mother is Puerto Rican and my father is Haitian. Coming from a household where both parents are from two differing backgrounds sparked my interest in learning about different cultures and nationalities. Being able to experience the different cultures within my household and also the blending of them shaped my curiosity for other ethnic groups. When I was a child, the neighborhood I lived in Brooklyn, was a melting pot because of the assortment of races that lived there. As well, the elementary and middle schools I attended allowed myself to be immersed in learning about the vastness of diverse cultures and nationalities that were around me. I grew up celebrating Hanukah, Christmas, and Kwanza because it was something a lot of children around me did.…
