A Comparison Of Annie Films
It seems like every day that a movie is being remade for theaters again, but are they any better or have any different of an outcome than they had before. I look to find out the answer in this essay where I decided to watch all of the “Annie” movies that were created and decide if it really is worth directors to spend their time remaking a past movie. That means I watched the original 1982 Annie, starring Aileen Quinn as Annie; the 1999 Annie, starring Alicia Morton as the young orphan; and the 2014 version of Annie, starring Quvenzhané Wallis as the most recent reincarnation of Annie on the big screen. Before I begin comparing these movies and go into detail how I feel about each one of them, I will let you guys know that I have watched …show more content…
One way is that in each of the movies, Annie and Grace end up having a good relationship with each other and are the first to become friends in a way in each of the movies. They also share a lot of time making Warbucks or Stacks into the person in the end of the movie. Another thing that both movies had was the iconic song “Tomorrow”. Even though it is an obvious to have in an Annie movie, they were still done in different ways and all of them were done pretty good. One more thing that all 3 of the movies had was the orphans helping in a way to tell Warbucks or Stacks that the people that are taking her aren’t her real parents. In the original one, they ran from the orphanage to tell him. In the 1999 movie version, they get Lilly to take them and stop the Hannigans. And in the 2014 movie, Ms. Hannigan needs their help to make up for what she did and they use twitter to find Annie. Now even though all of the titles of the movies are the same, they all have their differences. One example of this is how Sandy ends up living with Stacks or Warbucks. In the original one, Annie already had Sandy at the orphanage and brought her along to the mansion from the beginning. In the 1999 version, Annie finds Sandy while out with Warbucks and Grace on the streets. In the 2014 version, Stacks takes Annie to a dog pound and Annie gets Sandy that way. Another difference is how Warbucks or Stacks meets Annie. In the original, Warbucks meets Annie by smelling wet dog and Annie coming out of hiding with the dog, In the 1999 version, Annie runs into Warbucks at the end of the “I Think I’m Going to Like it Here” song. In the 2014 version, Annie runs into Mr. Stacks when he saves her by taking her out of traffic and not letting her get run over. One more difference is the relationship between Hannigan and Mr. Bundles or Lou. In the 1982 version, Hannigan is trying to get Bundles and is all

The most important thing that makes the stories different is the setting and the plot. Both stories may have a similar theme but the setting and plot it what separates them. For example, one story takes place in a cage and the other story takes place in a school. The climax in each story is different from each other. For example, in the story “from Boy’s Life” the student was so desperate to leave the class when the teacher told the class to leave in a single line, which makes the reader wonder what happens…

The first similarity of the book and the movie is the part where Pony and Johnny both go to the lot. Hear they both fell asleep which made Ponyboy late. This led to Pony’s brother, Darry being very upset. Then Pony and Johnny to ran away to the park. The socs came and that's when Johnny killed Bob (Hinton 42-49). The second similarity is they had the rumble of the greasers vs. the socs in both the movie and the book. The fight might of happened a little differently in each, but they both had the rumble. One last similarity that is in both the movie and book is that Dally died because Johnny died. These similarities kept the storyline of the movie and the book the same.…

The main characters are parallels to each other. For example, when Melinda and Cady start out in in highschool, they enter having no ideas what to expect. “My first class is biology. I can’t find it and I get my first demerit.” (Anderson 6). In the Mean Girls movie, Cady asked where her health class was and her friends made her miss her entire class. Another example is how they favourite one class and excel in it. For Cady shes so good at math that in Junior year, she takes senior AP trig. Melinda also favours art “Art follows lunch like a dream follows a nightmare.” (9). One final similarity is that they enter high school with no friends. On the first day of school, Cady gets denied seats in her first class because people didn’t want her to sit near them. When Melinda goes to school on the first day of school she has a hard time finding a seat on the bleachers because all of her friends abandoned her “I am an outcast. Most of the characters where the same as in the play, I only thought James was younger, and the captain meaner in the book. One thing that I thought was exactly the same as what I imagined from after reading the book, was the scene when Annie is alone with Helen in the kitchen and she tries to teach her to use fork and spoon and how to fold a napkin. They acted it out exactly as it said on the play. There was also another scene; the one where Annie is teaching Percy on purpose to get Helen interested. I thought that was really smart and it was exactly the same as how I pictured it in my head from the play. The thing that was the most different in the play from the movie that I noticed was that it was Kate who told James to stand up to his dad and not Annie as the movie had it. And I also thought Kate played a smaller role in the movie then the play.…

Blanche was a lady in her own eyes. She was into more old traditions than her sister. Blanche was living in her fantasy world and not the real world. Blanche always need compliments were as Stella did not need them to make her feel good about herself. Blanche thought men were to always be gentlemen no matter what just like in the old days. Stella being the new kind of south women knew that men weren’t always gentlemen. Stella was like a yes women when it came to Stanley. She always took him back after he hit or hurt her. The old south was use to old traditions like men being gentlemen. I think it couldn’t exist today because women now are CEO of companies and they would not take what women took back in the day.…

In both the drama and movie there are many more similarities than there are differences. The most noticeable difference are the emotions that the people have in A Christmas Carol. Like when the ghost of Christmas Past take him to his love he had back then, it doesn’t really show when they talk to each other (Dickens, 16-18). Or when, Scrooge returns back from all three spirits and goes to the Cratchit’s house (Video, 1984). There may be few differences but most can still be noticed.…

Most of the characters are the same in both stories. In both the movie and the book, you still have characters like Hannah, Rivka, Shmuel, Fayge, Esther, a baby, lots of kids and adults, and the Natzi army people. So as you can see, there are lots of similar characters in the book and the movie. As well as the characters, the plots are the same in some parts of the two genres. For example, there is a scene in the movie that shows four people trying to escape the camps. Similarly, in the book, there are four people trying to escape. Also, the people at the camps do work of some sort. In the movie, they are digging holes in the dirt. In the book, they are working in the kitchens. Therefore, the fact that they are working is the same. Those were ways to show how the plot can be alike. Another way the two stories are the same is the theme of the movie and the book. The theme is “Remember, never forget.” In the book, Hannah tells Rivka to remember and to not forget. Likewise, in the movie Rivka’s mom say’s, “We need to remember, do not forget.” That’s the way that theme is the same in both of the…

There were a lot of main points that the book and movie were alike. In both Morrie dies the same way with the same people around him. At the beginning of this story Mitch is so consumed in his job that he doesn’t give any attention to anything else but his column. As the story progresses Morrie starts to lighten up on the job and work towards a relationship with Morrie. By having this relationship with Morrie helps his relationship back home with his girlfriend who is getting tired of Mitch not giving her the attention she deserves. Janine and Morrie both play huge parts in Mitch’s life in both the movie and the book. The movie used a lot of the same lines used in the book such as Morrie’s aphorisms. One last thing that the book and movie had in common was that each time Mitch went to visit Morrie he could tell Morrie was getting worse and worse.…
