After addressing the strength of the poison she moves on to investigate the motives of the Friar, contemplating the possibility that this potion he has given her is actually a poison, meant to kill her entirely to prevent himself from needing to perform a marriage on an already married woman. Juliet meditates on this for a short time, but finds that the Friar is a holy man who would not do anything of that sort. At this point Juliet begins to express her fear of the tomb itself, first wondering if there will be enough air to keep her from suffocating, then considering the dead bodies and possibility of ghosts, stressing over the effects either of these would have on her mind. Finally we see Juliet relating back to her thought of ghosts, exclaiming that she sees Tybalt, he cousin who Romeo killed. The sight of Tyblat seemingly triggers a sudden longing for Romeo, as after calling out to him, she drinks the vial in his honor, and falls…

The young lovers were not murdered by an enemy, nor were they were not victims to an accident; they simply committed suicide. Romeo chose to take his life over living without Juliet, drinking the fatal poison he had purchased. Likewise was the case for Juliet, who, like Romeo, was the sole possessor of blame for her death. In this final situation, she was prey only to herself, with no force or individual controlling and conspiring against her. It was her hand that drove the dagger into her body, tragically ending the love she and Romeo briefly knew. There were no destinies for Romeo and Juliet but their own…

In the story, when Romeo hears the false news of Juliet’s death, Romeo asks for poison and offers gold to the Apothecary in exchange for the poison. The Apothecary accepts and gives Romeo the poison. (V.I.77-79) “Put this in any liquid thing you will/And drink it off, and if you had the strength/Of twenty men, it would dispatch you straight.” This conversation between Romeo and the Apothecary is the Apothecary selling Romeo poison that Romeo uses to kill himself later on which his death causes Juliet to kill herself. If the Apothecary did not sell Romeo the poison, maybe he would be alive long enough to receive the news of Juliet’s fake death. Or maybe he would find another way to kill himself but would be in time to see Juliet’s waking and both be…

Romeo does not get the message that Juliet isn’t really dead, so he goes there to kill himself by her side to control their fate. On the way to the tomb where Juliet was resting, Shakespeare writes, “O, I am slain! If thou be merciful, Open the tomb; lay me with Juliet. He dies” (III.iv.72-73). Romeo kills Paris to get to Juliet. He only did this because he wanted to be with “dead” Juliet and to control the love he had for her. After killing him he felt bad and put Paris in the tomb with Juliet to show respect and to honor his dying wish. By Hamlet doing this Paris was closer to the person he loved and cared about. Another case of controlled love is when the text reads, “This is thy sheath. There rust, and let me die. She takes Romeo’s dagger, stabs herself, and dies” (Shakespeare V.iii.120-121). After Juliet sees that Romeo has killed himself to be with her in the afterlife she does the same and by doing so stay together forever. This quote is pretty interesting because of the metaphor used and how she compared her body to the sheath (the holder for the knife). Both Romeo and Juliet tried to control their love without killing, but their plan did not work and the next best option for them was death. Out of the three pieces of literature Romeo and Juliet is the king of controlling…

This will allow her to run away with Romeo. This is where the readers see that Juliet has matured and is willing to do anything to be with her true love, Romeo. For example, Juliet states in Act 3, Scene 5. Line 244, "If all else fail, myself have power to die.” At this point, Juliet is isolated from her family, and even the Nurse betrays Juliet's trust by advising her to forget Romeo and agree with her father's wishes to marry Paris. After Juliet has taken the sleeping medicine, Romeo does not know, which makes him also think she is dead. In the play Balthasar states, “Then she is well, and nothing can be ill. Her body sleeps in Capel's' monument, And her immortal part with angels lives.” This shows how throughout the play, Juliet has matured and will do anything to be with her…
