A Christmas Carol Essay
At the beginning of a Christmas Carol a greedy old man hated Christmas, but at the end he changes ways when he is shown his future. In class we read the play version of a Christmas Carol and listened to the audio version of the book. A Christmas Carol is about a greedy old man named scrooge. He is rude and hate Christmas. He is soon visited by three spirits, the ghost of Christmas past, present, and future. In his future Scrooge’s life is horrible and he dies all alone and nobody cares, in fact people even steal from him just to get money. After he is visited by the three ghosts he wakes on Christmas day. Once again Scrooge is nice and happy. The play version is better than the audio version because of the dialogue, how we can see the pictures,

The dialogue helps us understand who is talking and when they talk next. This helps us while reading because if you know who is talking you can give them a voice. Also it tells us how they speak. Plus it tells us exactly what they are saying so we can read it or repeat it. As well as dialogue you can see some pictures. When you see the pictures you have some visualizing to go off of. Plus you can give each character personality and character traits. The pictures help show how someone looks or feels at a certain part in the play. Stage directions help as well because they tell you what is going on. They explain what people do as they listen to others or speak. Or just how they dance and the way their voice sounds. When you read the stage directions you learn about where they are, how the setting looks, how the characters look. What other things look like. The audio version is better because you can hear certain things that you can’t see in the play. You may be able to hear those things but if you pay close attention and read carefully you can read those same exact things through stage directions. You may be able to hear shoes clacking or people marching. Maybe also lips smacking, gum chewing, finger snapping. Although you can hear those things you can read them as well because they will be in the stage
