A Brief Look At Marilyn Monroe
I have done my research project on Norma Jeane Baker, better known as Marilyn Monroe. She was born June 1st 1926, in Los Angeles, California. She died at age 36 in Brentwood, California, August 5, 1962. I wanted to do Marilyn Monroe because she was going through so much with all the rumors, losing jobs, and having no family, but, she still did what she wanted to and when she wanted to do it. She didn’t care what people thought about her, she was still going to be herself. Norma had a tragic childhood. At the age of seven her mother was hospitalized for schizophrenic, a medical disorder, she was then put into an orphanage. Between the age seven and sixteen, she had 12 different foster parents. Norma had two siblings Berniece and. She never really knew them …show more content…
Marilyn Had married 3 people in her life, James Dougherty, Joe DiMaggio, and Arthur Miller. She married formal baseball star Joe DiMaggio in 1954, their marriage was going great until Joe came to one of Marilyn’s movies scenes, and seen the famous skirt blowing act. The shot of Marilyn's white dress blowing up to reveal her shapely legs is so identified with her image that it has become a virtual icon, at once celebrating her sexuality and encapsulating her legend. Joe didn’t like that and they divorced. Marilyn Monroe had a couple challenges. When she was a little girl she was sexually abused, and her foster mother at the time did not believe her husband (Marilyn’s foster father) was doing it. A few of her foster parents abused her, sexually and physically. When she got older one of the challenges she face was rumors. Everyone started rumors about her like “Marilyn Monroe is having an affair with John F. Kennedy.” We don’t know if that is true or not. Marilyn had a couple challenges, but most of her challenges were in herself. She know who she

Norma Jeane Mortenson, also known as Marilyn Monroe, was and still is an icon because of her bravery and high self-esteem. She is so famous because she didn’t cover up her body, she embraced her curves and never hid them like most girls did back in the day “Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.” Many women from her era weren’t as sexualized as she was and that made her more entertaining also. In 1962 Marilyn Monroe died at age 36. No one knows how she died, but 50 years later she is still an icon.…

I have decided to write my biography on Susan “Genie” Wiley (the wild child). She was born 1957 in Arcadia, CA; however, her date of birth is unknown only the year. Her parents, specifically her father was an abusive man. He told her family to leave her in a small room and no one was able to talk to her or even play with her. The only thing she was allowed was to get food. Her father, Clark Wiley, even had her windows covered over, so she wouldn't be seen at all. And her mother (Dorothy Irene Wiley) was slightly blind, but did nothing to help and stop the abuse. After Clark’s mother’s death he began to isolate the family. People didn't even know that Genie existed. Also, she had two brothers and a sister who continued to live there normal lives as their baby sister was stuck in a dark, small and empty room. And a few months later the father ended his life because people finally found out all the immoral things he was doing. Of course he ended his…

The poem “The Death of Marilyn Monroe” by Edwin Morgan explores the themes of isolation and loneliness throughout. The poem does this by adding in the use of imagery and tone. This poem by Morgan examines the theme of isolation by looking at the situation that Marilyn Monroe was in at the height of her fame. The poet looks at how Monroe was treated and how desolate she was even though she was surrounded by the likes of the press and she was constantly in the public eye. I am going to discuss how isolated Marilyn Monroe was and how Morgan carried this theme of isolation throughout the poem with the imagery, grammar and structure.…

In a lot of ways, the Misfits can be described as painfully and “cringeworthily” misogynistic. Marilyn Monroe’s innocent blonde characterization in a world of a majority of men, but one, visually objectifying her would send the feminists of today’s time into a frenzy on Twitter. In some ways, the treatment of women seems self-aware from a writing standpoint. To the point where it’s so extreme, there’s no way it’s not used as a plot device. But for what purpose? I saw the treatment of women and Marilyn Monroe by men as a self-analysis of the effect women have on men. Misfits explores the sacrifices men make for the affection of women while women show their power to change a man’s world view and force them to do deep self-exploration.…
