9/11 Descriptive Writing
I remember the events of 9/11 like they were yesterday. The enormous, burning building collapsing to the ashy ground, people desperate to stop the plane that was being flown at 600 miles per hour, the impact of when the plane collided with the building, the screams and cries for help, along with my fellow passengers calling their loved ones to say they’re not going to make it. Yes, I said my fellow passengers. My name Lauren Kriewitz, and I am a survivor of the treacherous 9/11 attack. My flight was in route to Los Angeles, when all of a sudden we were hijacked and made a sudden turn for New York, which I thought I heard our pilot saying, but over the incredibly loud roar of an airplane, I wasn’t so sure, so I decided to not worry. It turns out I should’ve worried because I woke up from a simple nap on the place only to find out I was headed directly for a building at nearly 600 miles per hour, with my fellow passengers crying and screaming for help, while trying

People fighting for their lives, others screaming and crying for help, and in some cases, the unimaginable happened. The dark smoke was becoming as thick as blood, and rising at a rapid pace. The taste and smell of smoke filled my throat as well as the sky, making New York City look like a dark, gloomy, depressed city. Which at the time, was exactly what it was. I was on the highest level of the world trade center, but I was determined to live. What I did next was not only a surprise to everyone around me, but a surprise to myself. Yes, I jumped out of the world trade center with no parachute out of desperation to live. I thank God everyday that the worst thing that happened to me was a severely broken spine, and some post traumatic stress. When it comes down to it, many lives were lost day, and my outcome could’ve been much worse. 9/11 is an event that opened my eyes forever, my sympathy with the family, friends, and loved ones who are missing someone
