8th Grade Science Test Scores
Correlation of Teacher Attendance and Student Reading Growth In order to better prepare students in the content area of Science, I determined whether the Mississippi Science Test Two (MST2) scores for Fifth Grade could help predict MST2 scores for Eighth Grade. In order to complete a correlation and regression, I requested MST2 score reports. I utilized a sample of scores for Former Fifth Grade students who tested in Spring 2012. Fifth Graders who tested in Spring 2012 were also tested in Eighth Grade in Spring 2015. In Microsoft Excel for Mac 2011, the Formula Builder was utilized for conducting a correlation and regression. The result of the correlation and regression test was .76. The correlation coefficient squared resulted in .58. The findings indicated a strong relationship in a positive direction between students’ Fifth Grade Science Scores and Eighth Grade Science Scores. Also, 58% of Eighth Graders’ Science Test scores could be attributed to their Fifth Grade Science Test scores. The F value was 45.03, and the significance resulted in .012, which concludes the regression model significantly predicted Eighth Grade Science Test scores based on Fifth Grade Science Test scores. An intercept of 25.5 indicated a score of at least 26 for Eighth Graders, even with the absence of a Fifth Grade score. The X variable represented a unit change outcome …show more content…
In order to maximize such a significant predictor, collaboration between Fifth and Eighth Grade Science Teachers should take place. Byhalia Elementary School (BES) and Byhalia Middle School Science (BMS) should work together to develop a curriculum plan, which ensures mastery of Science skills throughout Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Grades. Team planning amongst BES and BMS Science teachers would help ensure effective and consistent instruction in all Science

I observed Mrs. Ball’s 7th grade science class at Helen Tyson Middle School on Thursday November 5, 2015. The classroom had a great climate and was decorated with interesting scientific educational material. She had the desks set up in organized rows with two kids per table. This set up allowed for less interaction between the kids because they were so spaced out, which seemed to keep them on task. The dynamics in the classroom were great. She connected well with each student and was interested in what they had to say. She was very in control of the class and the students seemed to respond well to her. The students interacted pleasantly with one another and were were all very welcoming. They came into class, sat down, and got right to work.…

In this paper I will writing about my scores from freshmen scores and my sophomore scores. I will be explaining why the scores went up, went down or why they stays the same. My scores for superman and wall sit were the same both years which 5 minutes each because when I was at home I practice both of them until I got good at them. My 9th grade baseline score for the 12 minute run was 2100 and my post score was 2100 also. This was because I had soccer and gym at the same time and soccer helped me with the running. My 10th grade baseline was 1900 and my post core was 2100. This was because unlike last year, I did not do soccer, so I wasn’t as active as I was in 9th grade. I worked hard on my running and I got a better score for my post test. My 9th grade baseline score for the 12 minu swim was 19 laps and I got this because I only went half the pool because I was afraid that I would drown. As I started to swim more, I felt more confortable and I went the whole lenght…

Distance education has become one of the more prominent forms of study due to the ever-changing technology offered to this modern era of students; Technology has thoroughly improved academic success. Distance education has a glorious history that can be traced back to its roots in the early 1840’s. “It was Sir Issac Pitman, the English inventor of shorthand, who in 1840 devised his concept to offer education courses by mail, who, in a historical sense, ushered in the first phase of distance education (Matthews, 1999).” Since scholars have been implementing this form of study it has gone by various monikers such as: postal correspondence courses, independent study, off campus study, outreach education, and mostly recently online education. The one concept that all of these various names have in common are that the student is able to conduct studies over a distance. The technology has come a long way to allow these various forms, from simply mailing books and coursework in its induction, to audio classes and instructional videos in the mid 1900’s, and finally to online coursework in the post millennium.…

The Science co-ordinator has developed a whole school coverage sheet to ensure that all of the areas of the National curriculum are covered throughout years 1 -6. Each teacher highlights the National curriculum programme of study, when they cover it and dates it. This is then handed to the next teacher to continue with highlighting. The idea is that by the time the children reach year 6, all areas of the Science curriculum should be highlighted, and some areas more than once. The whole school coverage uses the QCA headings as topic headings and teachers are allowed to use the QCA scheme as a skeleton outline for ideas, however teachers tend to add their own ideas and expand ideas to ensure that the science teaching is exciting and investigation heavy. The use of Hamilton plans is also used widely throughout…
