7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens Essay
The book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens by Sean Covey, demonstrates how teenagers can be more effective and independent. Following the 7 habits can have you make smarter decisions or overcome addictions, even find a balance between school, work, friends, dating and anything else you might be doing. My three favorite habits are Be Proactive, Put First Things First, and Seek First to Understand, then to Be Understood. Habit number 1 is Be Proactive, in the book it states that Be Proactive means; “I am the force”, and “Take responsibility for your life.” One of the biggest things I came away with from this habit is being responsible for your own behavior; past, present and future. This habit is significant for my personal like so I make choices based on values and principles and not by peer pressure. Be Proactive is a helpful habit, so you choose not to be a victim or blame others for your mistakes. Next is another one of my favorite habits, Put First Things First. Put First Things First is habit number 3. This means prioritize, and do the most meaningful things first. “Make sure you keep the main thing the main thing”, like school; that should always be one of the most vital pieces. I picked three that I was most impressed by, which are; Habit 1: Be Proactive, Habit 3: Put First Things First, and Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood. This book points out very effective things that happen in teens’ lives everyday and helps them through that and come out stronger. The 7 habits book could be very valuable for teens going through a lot or having a tough time with something, such as parent troubles, or relationship up or downs or even complications in school. I believe that this book should be read by every teen at some point in a High School English

If you are like most Christian professors, you have felt a burden for your colleagues and have wanted to reach out to them, to minister to them -- especially those closest to you. Perhaps you just haven't done so because you haven't been able to think of an appropriate way. One of the real keys of ministry is to address felt needs. Perhaps the universally perceived need of professors in academia is time management, effectiveness. What better way to minister to busy colleagues who are all under pressure to produce than to offer to help them become more effective. Dr. Joseph (Rae) Mellichamp, professor emeritus of the University of Alabama, created a set of discussion notes for the highly popular book The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People that has proven useful in ministering to colleagues.…

The day of the eighth grade promotion was filled with mixed emotions. I was very nervous but also excited to be leaving middle school. I was mostly nervous because I would have to walk up onto the stage in front of over a hundred people. I didn’t want to go because of how nervous I was. The school day was uneventful. We went over what we were supposed to do in the gym multiple times. Even though the day was boring and uneventful, I was nervous the entire school day. In The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, Sean Covey states, “Putting first things first also deals with learning to overcome your fears and being strong during hard moments” (Covey 106). In order to overcome my fear and stay strong I had to put first things first. I was worrying…

Putting yourself before others is an important tactic that not many people demonstrate in their everyday lives. Many people rely on others to get them through things that they are very well capable of doing on their own, but they choose not to.
